Distribution Planner (Remote)

Position Overview:

The Distribution Planner is responsible for planning and optimizing the distribution of finished goods across a hub-and-spoke distribution network, ensuring efficient fulfillment for both traditional and e-commerce channels. The ideal candidate will have experience with advanced planning systems such as O9, Logility, OMP, Blue Yonder, or Kinaxis and be well-versed in e-commerce fulfillment and distribution processes. This role requires close collaboration across manufacturing, logistics, and sales teams to develop data-driven distribution plans that ensure optimal inventory levels, reduced transportation costs, and high service levels.

Key Responsibilities:

Distribution & Inventory Planning:

• Develop and execute distribution plans that align inventory levels across multiple distribution centers (hubs and spokes) to meet both retail and e-commerce demand.

• Balance inventory levels to prevent stockouts or overstock situations, ensuring high service levels and minimizing carrying costs.

• Coordinate inventory flow from manufacturing to distribution centers and ensure on-time deliveries to customers, both wholesale and direct-to-consumer.

Advanced Planning Systems Utilization:

• Utilize planning tools such as O9, Logility, OMP, Blue Yonder, or Kinaxis for distribution requirements planning and inventory optimization.

• Leverage system analytics to develop accurate forecasts based on historical sales data, market trends, and promotional activities.

• Continuously improve forecasting accuracy by fine-tuning planning systems and collaborating with sales and marketing teams.

E-Commerce Fulfillment & Distribution:

• Plan and execute distribution strategies specifically tailored to the needs of e-commerce channels, ensuring fast, accurate order fulfillment and on-time delivery to consumers.

• Collaborate with e-commerce and customer service teams to understand order patterns and align distribution resources to meet consumer expectations.

• Optimize packaging, routing, and last-mile delivery strategies to minimize costs and maximize service quality for online orders.

Cross-Functional Collaboration:

• Work closely with manufacturing, logistics, and transportation teams to ensure smooth product flow and timely fulfillment across multiple channels.

• Coordinate with distribution center managers to resolve any inventory or capacity issues and ensure that space and resources are utilized efficiently.

• Align with customer service and sales teams to provide updates on inventory availability, backorder status, and fulfillment timelines.

Data Analysis & Reporting:

• Generate and analyze reports from planning systems to track Nordic Naturals key performance indicators (KPIs) such as forecast accuracy, order fulfillment rates, inventory turnover, and transportation costs.

• Present regular reports and insights to senior management on the overall efficiency of the distribution network, highlighting areas for improvement.

• Identify and implement process improvements and cost-saving opportunities within the supply chain.

Continuous Improvement & Innovation:

• Participate in supply chain optimization initiatives, exploring opportunities to improve lead times, reduce costs, and enhance service levels.

• Stay updated on the latest trends in distribution planning, e-commerce fulfillment, and supply chain management, bringing innovative solutions to the team.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Operations, Business Administration, or Mathematics.

• 3-5 years of experience in distribution planning, inventory management, or supply chain, preferably within the manufacturing or consumer goods industries.

• Proficiency with advanced planning systems such as O9, Logility, OMP, Blue Yonder, or Kinaxis is required.

• Experience with e-commerce fulfillment and distribution, including direct-to-consumer shipping and order management.

• Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret data and make informed decisions.

• Excellent communication skills with the ability to collaborate cross-functionally and influence stakeholders.

• Knowledge of transportation and logistics processes, including familiarity with hub-and-spoke distribution models.

• Proficiency in ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle) and strong working knowledge of Excel or other data analysis tools.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience in the supplement, pharmaceutical, or food manufacturing industries.

• APICS Certified in Production and Inventory Management (CPIM) or Certified Supply Chain Professional (CSCP).

• Experience with warehouse management systems (WMS) and third-party logistics providers (3PL).

Pay, Benefits & Perks:

The estimated salary pay is $95,000 to $115,000. This pay is an estimate, and the exact compensation may vary depending on an applicant’s location, skills, prior experience, professional qualifications, and other relevant factors. Additional compensation may also include incentive compensation (i.e. bonus or commission) if applicable.
