About The Role

We are hiring an Energy Project Manager to join our direct client’s team. The Energy Project Manager will be responsible for leading energy-related projects from conception to completion, ensuring alignment with environmental and financial goals. This role demands expertise in energy systems, project management, and stakeholder collaboration. The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong leadership, technical knowledge, and a commitment to sustainability.

  • Develop and oversee project plans, timelines, and budgets for energy efficiency, renewable energy, and sustainability initiatives.
  • Work closely with clients, contractors, engineers, and regulatory agencies to define project requirements and expectations.
  • Allocate resources effectively, including personnel, equipment, and materials, to ensure project success.
  • Conduct or oversee energy audits and feasibility studies to identify opportunities for efficiency improvements and renewable energy integration.
  • Coordinate the design, procurement, and installation of energy systems, such as solar, wind, HVAC upgrades, or energy storage solutions.
  • Ensure all projects meet local, state, and federal regulations, as well as industry standards for safety and environmental impact.
  • Identify potential project risks and develop mitigation strategies to minimize delays and cost overruns.
  • Monitor energy performance data, analyze results, and report on the success of implemented solutions.
  • Align projects with organizational or client sustainability targets, including carbon footprint reduction and renewable energy adoption.
  • Prepare cost estimates, manage budgets, and ensure projects are completed within financial constraints.
  • Lead multidisciplinary teams, fostering collaboration and accountability throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Negotiate contracts and manage relationships with vendors and service providers.
  • Maintain detailed records of project progress, performance metrics, and final outcomes for stakeholders.
  • Stay informed about the latest advancements in energy technology and incorporate innovative solutions into projects.
  • Oversee system commissioning and provide ongoing support or troubleshooting as needed.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Energy Management, Environmental Science, or a related field; PMP certification is a plus.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience managing energy projects, including renewable energy, energy efficiency, or infrastructure upgrades.
  • Expertise in energy systems such as solar PV, wind turbines, battery storage, and HVAC systems.
  • Familiarity with energy policies, incentives, and compliance requirements in the U.S., such as LEED, ENERGY STAR, or state energy codes.
  • Proficiency in project management software (e.g., MS Project, Primavera) and methodologies.
  • Strong ability to assess energy data, identify trends, and develop actionable strategies.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills for client presentations and stakeholder engagement.
  • Proven ability to lead teams and manage cross-functional projects effectively.
  • Creative and pragmatic approach to solving complex energy and sustainability challenges.
  • Experience managing large-scale project budgets and delivering cost-effective solutions.
  • Willingness to travel as needed for site visits and stakeholder meetings.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Advanced degree in a related field or additional certifications (e.g., CEM, LEED AP, or Certified Energy Auditor).
  • Experience with energy modeling software (e.g., RETScreen, EnergyPlus).
  • Familiarity with Power Purchase Agreements (PPAs) and other financial mechanisms for energy projects.
  • Background in utility-scale renewable energy projects or microgrid design.
  • Strong network in the energy industry, including vendors, contractors, and policy-makers.
