Engineer Database (Remote)

We are seeking a highly skilled Database Engineer with extensive experience in the design and support of intricate applications. This remote position offers the opportunity to join a forward-thinking application development team, where you will play a pivotal role in collaborating with business stakeholders to ensure that our applications meet their specifications. In this capacity, you will provide essential guidance to our development team while engaging in a variety of critical tasks such as enhancing, integrating, maintaining, and implementing projects, in addition to formulating technology roadmaps.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead both new and ongoing development initiatives with data and process modeling activities.
• Create and oversee entity, logical, and physical data models.
• Execute database design across diverse platforms.
• Offer technical guidance and mentorship to the application development team.
• Coordinate with stakeholders to ensure application architecture is in line with business objectives.
• Design logical and physical database models within Oracle and SQL Server.
• Optimize SQL queries and troubleshoot issues using SQL and PL/SQL scripts.
• Integrate software components into a cohesive software system.
• Develop prototypes and mockups for user evaluation and approval.
• Produce flowcharts, screen layouts, and documentation to capture logical system requirements.
• Participate in significant agile projects.
• Refine data models to ensure sustained performance levels.
• Manage metadata and employ data modeling tools such as Erwin and ER Studio.

Required Skills

• Proficient in designing logical and physical data models using SQL and/or PL/SQL.
• Demonstrated experience with relational, dimensional, and/or analytic databases.
• Strong SQL skills with a focus on writing packages, functions, and triggers.
• Expertise in query optimization and performance tuning.
• Familiarity with data conversion and transformation methodologies.
• Excellent mentoring and collaborative team skills.

Qualifications

• A minimum of 8 years of experience in designing and reviewing logical and physical data models in SQL and/or PL/SQL.
• At least 6 years of practical experience with relational, dimensional, and/or analytic databases.
• A minimum of 6 years in writing SQL packages, functions, and triggers, along with performing mass data updates and deletions.
• A minimum of 3 years in query optimization and performance tuning.
• At least 3 years of experience with data conversion between varying systems and data transformation techniques.
