Join a vibrant environmental nonprofit organization committed to safeguarding the health of local waters and enhancing community well-being as our Development & Events Manager. This is an exciting opportunity for an organized and driven professional with robust institutional fundraising expertise to play a pivotal role in advancing our mission. In this position, you will manage grant research, proposal writing, and reporting while also overseeing fundraising administration and supporting impactful events. We are seeking candidates with a proven track record in institutional fundraising, exceptional written communication skills, and strong project management capabilities. Collaboration with the Associate Director, Development & Communications Manager, Community Engagement Manager, and other key personnel is a vital aspect of this role.
Key Responsibilities
- Grant Writing & Management: Conduct research on foundations, corporations, and government grants to identify potential funding sources. Maintain an organized database and calendar for timely proposal submissions and assist in the development of compelling grant requests.
- Fundraising Administration: Supervise the administration of donor databases and fundraising systems, including donation tracking, donor acknowledgments, and data analysis. Develop effective prospect lists and support donor cultivation activities.
- Event Management: Lead the planning and execution of key fundraising and programmatic events designed to attract new donors, members, and volunteers while engaging the public and ecosystem partners. Manage coordination of 6-10 events annually, including signature events, research symposiums, and donor house parties.
- Administrative Support: Execute various administrative tasks related to fundraising, such as preparing reports for the board of directors and managing budgets and timesheets. Recruit and mentor interns and volunteers as needed.
Qualifications
The ideal candidate will possess a dynamic and personable demeanor, creativity, and a commitment to environmental protection. Preferred qualifications include:
- Bachelor’s degree.
- A minimum of 4 years of experience in fundraising, event planning, project management, and budget oversight.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to articulate complex policy issues in a clear and engaging manner.
- Proficient in project management, with the ability to manage timelines, tasks, and budgets effectively.
- Familiarity with fundraising platforms and project management tools, including Asana, Qgiv, and/or Bloomerang is preferred.
- Experience in environmental organizations, whether professional, academic, or volunteer, is advantageous.
- Ability to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment and meet tight deadlines.

Compensation And Benefits
- Salary: (73,000 – )78,000, commensurate with experience.
- This is a full-time, exempt position reporting to the Associate Director.
- Benefits include paid health, vision, and dental insurance; a 403(b) retirement plan with matching contributions; a hybrid work model (remote and in-office); generous paid time off; 13 observed holidays; and a winter break from December 25 to January 1.
