Property, Buildings and Beach Services oversees the comprehensive management of Northern Beaches Council’s extensive portfolio property, comprising over 540 buildings, as well as the delivery of lifeguarding and beach safety services for Council’s beautiful coastline. The properties encompass a diverse range of facilities, including community centres, administration buildings, restaurants and cafes, childcare centres, libraries, sports facilities, cemeteries, and public toilets. The delivery of services under this business unit include:

  • Beach Services

Our opportunity:

Reporting to the Director, Transport and Assets, this role will work closely with the CEO, Councillors and community groups. The key focus areas of this role include:

  1. Lead a dynamic team in overseeing and facilitating the planning, management, maintenance, and delivery of Council’s Buildings, Property, and Beach Services areas to meet community needs and align with organisational goals.
  2. Act as a conduit between various interest groups, including the community and councillors, to achieve positive outcomes through effective enforcement of legislation and Council policy, promoting transparent communication and stakeholder engagement.
  3. Drive business unit planning setting clear strategic priorities, direction, and targets to ensure the achievement of Northern Beaches Council’s strategic outcomes, initiatives and programs, fostering a proactive and goal-oriented approach.

 

About you:

With relevant tertiary qualifications in business, management or commerce discipline, you will bring significant relevant experience working at a senior management level within a large multidiscipline organisation. You will have extensive experience at a senior level managing property / commercial management functions which would cover property management, land management and asset management. In addition, you will also bring with you a demonstrated understanding of lifeguarding, beach safety and management or similar public safety roles. The ability to cultivate and foster effective stakeholder relationships internally and externally is also crucial in this role as is the ability to balance competing community and Council priorities.
