Exterior Product Surface Pattern Designer (Remote)

Job Description

MRL Outdoors is currently in the process of working through initial product prototypes and is seeking the talent of a surface pattern designer to assist in developing 2D & 3D camouflage (realistic & digital) modern patterns.

We are looking for a designer that has experience in the development of exterior-related surface patterns that mimic natural environments, are geographically unique, as well as development of nature-based colorways. This role will require a strong understanding of color theory, composition, and design principles, as well as proficiency in design software applications.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
– Must be able to research and create original surface patterns with regard to MRL’s brand aesthetic goals.
– Responsible for conceptualizing and developing original pattern designs that can be applied to exterior hunting blinds, outdoor equipment and other products, including textile based applications.
– Conduct market research to stay updated on current trends and competitor products.
– Develop pattern boards to present pattern ideas with comparison to current industry vendors/competitors.
– Work within project timelines and meet deadlines.
– Effective communication in English is required with MRL team members.
– Ensure patterns are technically feasible for production.
– Ensure all designs meet quality standards.
– Prepare final design files for production.

REQUIREMENTS:
– Bachelor’s degree in Graphic Design, Industrial Design, Textile Design, or related field.
– Provide portfolio to demonstrate proven experience as a Surface Pattern Designer or similar role.
– Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite applications such as Illustrator, Photoshop, InDesign, and other design software applications.
– Experience with CLO Software is beneficial.
– Ability to create repetitive patterns, while understanding technical aspects of pattern design.
– Strong attention to detail with regard to varying surface applications.
– Experience with pattern printing applications for exterior UV film and textiles.
– Proficient in English with strong communication & presentation skills.
– US Based is preferable for sake of achieving efficient communication and Virtual Meetings.
