We are a growing international property development and construction company with operations in the UK, Australia, and South Africa. We are looking for an experienced Financial Accountant with a strong background in the construction industry to join our finance team. The ideal candidate will have deep knowledge of cloud-based accounting systems and ERP platforms, along with expertise in managing treasury accounts, intercompany accounting, and cash flow management.

Role Overview:

As the Financial Accountant, you will be responsible for overseeing the financial health of our construction projects, ensuring accurate financial reporting, and maintaining the integrity of our treasury operations. You will play a key role in managing intercompany accounting, controlling cash flow, and ensuring proper bank feed management. Your expertise in cloud-based systems and ERP software will help drive the smooth transition and implementation of NetSuite and other financial tools across the business.

Key Responsibilities:

• Financial Reporting & Analysis:
• Prepare and review monthly financial statements, including P&L, balance sheet, and cash flow statements.
• Conduct variance analysis to provide insights into project performance and company profitability.
• Ensure that all financial records are accurate, up-to-date, and compliant with applicable regulations.
• Treasury and Cash Flow Management:
• Oversee treasury operations, including managing cash flow forecasts, liquidity, and working capital needs.
• Ensure effective cash flow management to optimize working capital across projects.
• Manage and reconcile multiple bank accounts across international operations, ensuring timely and accurate bank feed management.
• Intercompany Accounting & Controls:
• Manage intercompany transactions between subsidiaries, ensuring proper accounting and reconciliation of balances.
• Establish and maintain intercompany controls to prevent discrepancies and ensure accurate reporting.
• Collaborate with other business units to manage currency exposure and mitigate risks associated with multi-currency operations.
• ERP & Cloud-Based Systems:
• Lead the implementation of NetSuite, supporting the transition from other cloud-based systems like Xero.
• Maintain accurate financial data within the ERP system, ensuring proper integration with project costing, procurement, and sales modules.
• Leverage automation and AI-driven insights within the ERP system to improve financial reporting accuracy and efficiency.
• Budgeting & Forecasting:
• Collaborate with project managers to prepare and update budgets for ongoing and upcoming construction projects.
• Provide detailed forecasts to support decision-making, resource allocation, and financial planning.
• Ensure accuracy in forecasting project cash inflows and costs to maintain profitability and proper cash management.
• Taxation & Compliance:
• Ensure compliance with local tax regulations in the UK, Australia, and South Africa, particularly around construction-specific tax schemes (e.g., CIS and TPAR).
• Manage VAT submissions and other tax-related tasks.
• Support external and internal audits by preparing and providing necessary financial documentation.

Key Qualifications:

• At least 5-7 years of experience in a financial accounting role, preferably in the construction industry.
• Strong understanding of project costing and accounting for long-term contracts (e.g., percentage of completion method).
• Experience with cloud-based accounting systems (Xero, QuickBooks, etc.) and ERP platforms (preferably NetSuite).
• Technical Skills:
• Strong knowledge of treasury management, intercompany accounting, and cash flow forecasting.
• Proficiency in bank reconciliation and multi-currency financial management.
• Experience with financial reporting automation and ERP customizations to support financial operations.

Soft Skills:

• Strong analytical abilities and attention to detail.
• Excellent communication skills to work effectively with stakeholders across different locations.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and work to tight deadlines.

Education:

• A bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or a related field.
• Professional qualifications such as ACCA, CIMA, or CPA would be advantageous.

Job Types: Full-time, Permanent

Pay: R35 000,00 – R45 000,00 per month
