Role Specifics

We’re seeking a Front End Software Engineer with experience in GIS and mapping to join our team and contribute to our web application, APIs, data pipeline, and adjacent technologies.

Key Responsibilities:

• Work closely with founders and lead developers to design, develop, and maintain web-based software applications and GIS functionality.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define and prioritize work.
• Write clean, efficient, and well-documented code.
• Test, troubleshoot, debug, and optimize application performance.

Requirements:

• Bachelor’s Degree in GIS, Computer Science, or equivalent work experience.
• 4+ years of experience with JavaScript, TypeScript, Python, or a similar language.
• 4+ years of experience with web design and UI/UX.
• 3+ years of experience with GIS and/or map visualizations.

Preferred Qualifications:

• 5-8 years of experience in the above requirements.
• Works well with a team and independently.
• Experience with React.
• Familiarity with the ArcGIS JS library or the ESRI ecosystem.
• Experience with web design, responsive design, component-based design, UI/UX, CSS or Tailwind styling, and component libraries like DaisyUI.
• Experience with front-end testing methodologies and tools (e.g., Cypress, Vitest).
• Knowledge of web security best practices.
• Experience with SQL.
• Experience working on and/or consuming REST APIs.
• Comfortable working with AWS or similar cloud providers.
• Comfortable in a fast-paced environment with 1-2 week iterative development sprints.

Location:

Our team operates fully remotely, with a preference for candidates located in or near the Central Time Zone to align with our core working hours. While we’re currently based in Tuscaloosa, Alabama, we welcome talented individuals from across the region.

Salary & Benefits:

• Competitive salary: $130,000 – $137,000
