In this role, the Senior Information Assurance/Cyber Security Specialist will report directly to the Program Lead and be instrumental in safeguarding the program’s security and compliance with federal regulations. Key Responsibilities
- Implement NIST, DISA, and DoD security standards and Risk Management Framework (RMF) processes.
- Conduct thorough risk assessments to achieve Authority to Operate (ATO) status with zero policy rejections.
- Supervise cybersecurity management leveraging Governance, Risk, and Compliance tools.
- Carry out network security tasks, ongoing monitoring, system auditing, and the development of security policies.
- Employ compliance scanning tools (e.g., Nessus, Wireshark, Fortify) to conduct assessments, analyze findings, and suggest remediation actions.
- Prepare Plans of Action and Milestones (POAMs) with comprehensive justifications for any non-compliant items.
- Ensure compliance with the Federal Information Security Management Act (FISMA).
- Strategically plan, formulate policies, and create executive-level presentations.
- Identify potential risks and oversee project deliverables to fulfill customer requirements.
- Provide exceptional communication and customer service, including presentations to senior government officials.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams in a multi-vendor environment to drive ongoing process enhancements.
Required Skills
- 10+ years of experience in Information Assurance for government IT systems.
- A Bachelor’s degree or equivalent professional experience.
- Current IC2 CISSP certification.
- DoD 8570 certification at Information Assurance Management Level II (CAP, CASP+ CE, CISM, CISSP [or Associate], GSLC, CCISO).
- Proficiency in cybersecurity tools, network security, compliance standards, and vulnerability remediation.
- Strong command of the Microsoft Suite (PowerPoint, Word, Excel, Visio, Project, Access).
- Exceptional verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and deliver timely results under pressure.
