Irrigation Engineer (Remote)

Job description / Role

Coastal Contracting Company, a subsidiary of Red Sea Global is seeking Irrigation Specialists proficient in designing and constructing multiple large-scale landscape and turf irrigation projects, particularly for resorts and golf course developments.

Roles may be specialist or flexible capacity:

– Irrigation Planning and Design
– Irrigation Construction quality management and handovers
– Irrigation Operations, central control irrigation water management and monitor water budgets

Primary Tasks

– Irrigation and associated water supply, develop internal design or review external design
– Irrigation constructions inspections; manage RFI’s, testing plan (ITP’s), defects and handover checklists
– Implement Irrigation water and management plans (IWMP) and monitor water budgets

General & Secondary Tasks

– Follow irrigation design guidelines
– Collaboration with Infrastructure and MEP for irrigation water supply demands
– Coordination with Infrastructure and MEP guidelines & specifications
– Collaboration with Landscape Architecture for irrigation water supply demands
– Coordination with Landscape Architecture for irrigation input to; design guidelines, scope of work, employee requirements, request for proposal, construction specifications, project closeout, operational readiness, and maintenance manual specifications.
– Irrigation equipment, understand current materials available and complete evaluation submittals
– Tank & Pump equipment, understand current materials available and complete evaluation submittals
– Maintain irrigation library, irrigation drafting standards, associated technical information and quality standards
– Irrigation design and distribution layouts
– Prepare & analyze valve schedules and groupings, for irrigation programs to optimize system hydraulics and meet irrigation demand through matching precipitation and ET rates at appropriate interval incorporating water budgets for seasonal adjustments
– Construction detail drawings, general arrangements for all key components
– Irrigation Construction Specifications
– Quantity survey for irrigation BOQ, cost estimating schedules and cost evaluation
– Hydraulic calculations and analysis
– Electrical calculations for ELV controls
– Detail grounding requirements for irrigation control systems
– Irrigation agronomy calculations
– Smart control inputs for flow management and ET-based weather management
– Remote communications and cloud-based central control management
– Understand and work within program timelines, milestones and hold points for both design and construction projects, developing or maintaining Project gant charts where required
– Site inspections and testing throughout construction and establishment program, system commissioning inspection and tests prior to handover, plus routine inspections post construction to support maintenance team as required
– As constructed survey drawings review
– Operations and Maintenance manuals review
– Maintain site-wide water use budgets database, monitor trends and notify construction or maintenance if excess use. Provide support for corrective action
– Maintain checklists – design, construction, maintenance & operations
– Input to Project Management Information Systems (PMIS), including Aconex, BIM360 & Revizto
– Compliance with RSG guidelines and systems.

– Preferred: Degree in Agricultural Engineering or Agricultural Science
– Option; Degree in related discipline; irrigation, water management, design & project mgt

Experience:
– Minimum: 5 years in irrigation
– Mandatory: Irrigation Design and Construction experience
– Optional: Irrigation maintenance and operations experience

Software:
– Required: AutoCAD
– Preferred: Aconex, BIM 360
– Optional: Design software, eg; Irricad, Raincad, Landfx, Winspace, hydraulic modeling, friction loss calculators (nominate type & certification level)
– General requirement: MS office, Adobe
