Java Software Engineer (Remote)

Our Partner, a US based international IT company and the leading provider of customer engagement solutions seeks a Java Software Engineer.

About the role:

This is a highly skilled hands-on role requiring extensive proficiency involved in all aspects of the development of cloud-based software solutions.

The role will work closely with a global team of engineers to build robust solutions that meet our client’s business objectives following continuous integration and deployment processes, while supporting software and associate software engineers. Additionally, they will provide recommendations to management as to process, technologies, or other improvements intended to benefit productivity, efficiency and/or quality of the solutions developed by the

team and lead the implementation of new solutions.

Subject to their specialization, they will lead the design, development, testing, publishing, and/or support of different cloud-based products and solutions. Being the subject matter expert for customer implementation and cloud platform support.

Tasks and Responsibilities:

● Develop features using best practices and ensure it fits with the architecture for the product

● Ongoing evaluation (test) of feature design – proactively work with others to identify issues or potential risk areas with the architecture (performance etc…)

● Ensure the right work is being done, work with Team Lead to know that product qualities like, unit tests, automation, throughput, capacities, security & performance will be sufficient

● Take responsibility for technical implementation and decision making including the delivery of features

● Identify areas of technical risk in a feature and options to de-risk

● Ensure design and implementation work meets the stakeholder’s requirements, the feature design is correct for operations, as well as deployment and sustainability

● Provide technical support to less experienced members of the team – mentor, coach, continuous improvement, led by example

● Work with Technical Architect, Team Lead, Product Manager to define, document, and communicate a coherent feature design and requirements

● Prioritise and resolve technical problems and assist others with the same

● Maintain communication with stakeholders and ensure changes to any previously agreed solutions are communicated

● Participate in departmental activities – Hackathons, Career Fairs / Industry Engagements.

Requirements:

● BSc in Computer Science, Engineering or equivalent work experience

● Experience in:

o Java backend development

o SQL server

o REST web services

o Cloud technology (either AWS, Azure or GCP)

o Docker, Kubernetes

● Experience of developing high quality, secure and performant solutions against functional and non-functional requirements

● Experience aligning feature development with business initiatives and corporate roadmaps

● Experience of working with Tier3 support (engineers) to resolve issues in customer environments or in cloud production systems

● Ability to work within a geographically distributed development team spread between multiple time zones and cultures

● Able to troubleshoot and identify root cause of issues while liaising with engineering teams, support end customers

● Passionate about customer success

● Ability to solve cross-functional technical problems of highest complexity

● Confident understanding of software development life cycle methodologies

● Curiosity and interest in new products and technologies (e.g. Golang)

● Confident English language skills both written and verbal
