Position Summary

HCL Software develops, markets, sells, and supports over 20 product families across four main pillars: Customer Experience, Digital Solutions, Secure DevOps, and Security and Automation.

The Software Architect is responsible for understanding business requirements, designing the proper solutions, and implementing such solutions. He/she will participate the full cycle of software development cycle in an agile environment, including the quality assurance team to design/review test scenarios, tech support team to solve customer issues, and documentation team to supplied product details. He/she is expected to bring new technologies and skills to enhance the product, contribute ideas for the direction of the product, and help other members of the team to grow.

In addition, the Software Architect shares the responsibility of ensuring the product to comply with all required regulations and rules. This involves working closely with internal and external governance teams and performing necessary tasks.

What will you be doing:

• Understand and refine requirements for product features.
• Make high level and low level designs on how to implement various features.
• Implement the agreed designs, including thorough unit testing.
• Review the design and code developed by fellow developers.
• Share knowledge with fellow developers.
• Work closely with QA team to design test scenarios and timely solve issues coming up during testing.
• Work closely with tech support team to timely solve customer issues.
• Work with documentation team for providing product details and reviewing documentation.
• Familiarize the compliance and regulation requirements
• Perform tasks required by the compliance.

What we need from you (Qualifications, Skills and Experience):

• For this role, we need candidates with the specific work authorization as a US Citizen and will physically work from the continental US

Candidates able to work in our Chelmsford, MA Office on a hybrid basis

will be considered first

• Be able to work remotely with a team located in different time zones.
• Strong communication skills with both technical and non-technical persons.
• Proven capability of analyzing business requirements and expectations and translating them into technical requirements.
• 8+ years of experience with a demonstrated record developing enterprise grade software in Java 8+.
• 5+ years of architecture experience using the Spring framework and Spring Boot
• 3+ years of experience in architecting and designing complicated features.
• 3+ years of experience working with relational database, including writing complex queries and basic design of database structure.
• Working knowledge on common cloud providers, such as, AWS, GCP, and Azure.
• Deep understanding of software security practices, especially in the context of Java frameworks.

The following are “nice to have” skills:

• Deep understanding of performance monitoring, analysis, and tuning.
• Working knowledge of Apache Kafka
• Deep understanding of Kubernetes and Docker ecosystem.
• Familiarity with Linux environment and common commands.
• Experience in building and release process and practice.
• Experience in the compliance of government regulations and rules.
• Experience in working directly with customers.
• Working knowledge on common cloud providers, such as, AWS, GCP, and Azure.
• Deep understanding of software security practices, especially in the context of Java frameworks.
• Based in the greater Boston area.
