Do you believe that Europe’s future depends on the success of its small and medium digital enterprises? If you answered yes to these questions, The European DIGITAL SME Alliance is the place for you!

As a successful candidate, you have excellent English-writing and design skills, a passion for tech and for supporting Europe’s digital sovereignty.

Your role

As our new Junior Communications Officer, you will support the Events and Communications Manager on the following tasks:

  • Managing the organisation’s social media accounts and communication campaigns;
  • Drafting articles, press releases, social media posts and newsletters;

  • Managing WordPress website back office: update pages, create/edit posts, etc;
  • Developing and maintaining the Association’s contacts database;
  • Regularly monitor policy updates and prepare weekly briefings;
  • Contributing to draft the Association’s public statements and position papers;
  • Organising events, meetings, workshops, etc. both online and in-person;
  • Preparing briefing materials for public events and meetings.

Requirements

  • Excellent level of spoken and written English, including a refined and contemporary writing style;
  • Excellent proofreading and editing skills in English;
  • A first experience with social media and press communications;
  • Experience in editing visual material (Adobe or Affinity suite or similar);
  • A team-player attitude and a positive, proactive approach to work, including the willingness to learn new (digital) skills and overcome challenges.

Desirable skills

  • Understanding of and interest in EU digital policies and initiatives
  • Previous experience in members-driven business associations
  • Experience with CMS (WordPress). Knowledge of HTML and CSS is a plus;
  • Experience with a CRM software (preferably CiviCRM) is a plus;
  • Fluency in another European language is an asset, especially French and German;
  • Experience with video-editing software is a plus.

Work Conditions

As our Junior Communications Officer, you will be part of an international and dynamic team. Our office is in the heart of the EU district in Brussels, easily accessible by public transportation. Since the pandemic, we have established a hybrid work model, where the team works partly from the office, partly remotely. Flexible working hours are also part of the deal – the Alliance’s organisational culture is result- rather than control-driven.

We offer a permanent full-time contract and a competitive salary and benefit package in line with your skills and level of experience.

Short missions abroad within the EU may be required (around 1-2 days per month).

The European DIGITAL SME Alliance is committed to workplace diversity and inclusion of people from diverse backgrounds, abilities, and experiences. We strongly encourage qualified candidates from diverse backgrounds to apply!
