The Role
As a Lead Analytics Engineer (Pod Lead), you will use your technical know-how and your leadership skills to ensure that the data consultants under your care are delivering value to clients as well as learning and growing professionally. While technical skills are essential to managing technical teams, you will be mainly focusing your efforts on client satisfaction and employee satisfaction.
What success as a Lead Analytics Engineer looks like:
To ensure success as a Lead Analytics Engineer (Pod Lead), you should demonstrate flexibility, creativity, and the capacity to shift between different engagements. A formidable Pod Lead will demonstrate a high level of curiosity, interpersonal skills, and dedication to their team and clients.
On any given day, you could be:
- Coaching your team on how to best manage clients and projects
- Defining and following up on team members’ training and career plans
- Providing technical guidance to clients and your team
- Working with other Pod Leads to improve Datatonic’s processes and standard practices
- Working on select engagements to maintain your technical skills
- Working with clients and team members to determine objectives, deliverables and paths to success
Bonus points:
- dbt Developer certification
- Google Cloud Professional Data Engineer certification
- Snowflake’s Snowpro Certification
- Experience with Scrum Methodology
Qualifications:
- 5+ years experience in a data role (Data Engineer, Data Analyst, Analytics Engineer, etc.)
- 3+ years hands-on experience with dbt, a modern Data Warehouse like Snowflake or BigQuery and Kimball modelling
- 2+ years experience leading technical teams and managing individual’s careers
- Ability to work within an Agile framework (user stories, backlogs, sprints …)
- Experience with managing relationships (partners, clients, prospects, etc.)
- Previous consulting experience
- Proven analysis and problem-solving skills
- Stellar listening, speaking, presentation, and writing skills
- Strong ability to manage multiple concurrent engagements
- Empathy and a positive attitude

Datatonic is a UK based company with an Americas division based in Canada. The Canadian team is remote-only, mostly distributed across North and South America. This role is open to folks based anywhere in Canada.
Salary: CAD 145,000$ – CAD 155,000$
