About us
The Climate Risk Group is a company committed to quantifying and communicating the costs of climate change. Our mission is to influence decision-makers – large and small – towards action that directs global capital away from climate change-related activities and towards a net-zero carbon, high-resilience economy.
With 50 team members across Australia and Europe, the Climate Risk Group brings together XDI, with its finance and business focus, and Climate Valuation, which provides household-level insights into the costs of climate change. Our work leverages physical climate risk data, influence with global financial players, and grassroots momentum to create a compelling case for change.
If this interests you, please apply now by submitting your CV and a cover letter addressing all the capabilities and experience criteria and why you’d like to work for The Climate Risk Group/XDI. Applications will be reviewed from mid-January 2025.
The Role
As Lead Developer within our newly created Model Owners product team, you’ll work closely with Scientists, Software Engineers, and a Product Manager to build and maintain world-class climate risk models, methodologies and metrics.
You will be responsible for the technical (code) quality of our products, serve as the go-to person for all engineering-related queries, and identify and mitigate risks by focusing on technology and implementation. As a secondary focus, you will also apply your statistical experience to supporting scientific model development.
Collaborating closely with the CTO, Head of Product and other Lead Developers, you will influence architectural decisions, technology stack, and coding standards.
Key Accountabilities
- Lead the SDLC of the team within our ISO27001 environment, designing, building, and maintaining the CI/CD pipeline to enable rapid iteration and continuous delivery.
- Through technical leadership, mentoring, and support, elevate team excellence and guide Software Engineers to realise their full potential and further the organisation’s goals.
- Design, build, and maintain internal platform tooling to unblock and smooth the development experience of software and science team members, including providing guidance and troubleshooting
- Model and teach software development behaviours, including software development lifecycle
- Together with other Software Engineers, produce maintainable and high-quality code continuously tested for pre-deployment quality assurance and designed for scalable architecture and performance.
- Collaborate with the CTO and Product Manager to define the technical direction and architecture of the analysis ecosystem and APIs.
- Collaborate with Product Managers, Data Product Specialists and stakeholders to enhance user experience and align technical developments with our product roadmap.
