Lead Software Architect Engineering Manager (Remote)

Role Overview:

As our Lead Software Architect & Engineering Manager, you will play a pivotal role in re-architecting our existing suite into a next-generation web platform. You will set the technical direction, build the foundational infrastructure, and lead the migration from C# desktop to a Python-based web application using frameworks like Django or Flask on the backend, React on the frontend, and Azure for cloud infrastructure. In addition, you will leverage AI, Machine Learning, and Retrieval Augmented Generation (RAG) to deliver predictive analytics and intelligent features for our customers.

You will be a hands-on contributor, coding alongside the team while setting high standards for development, security, and maintainability. You will also manage and mentor a small group of interns and coordinate external freelance developers, ensuring that all stakeholders align with your architectural vision and best practices.

Key Responsibilities:

• Architectural Leadership & Strategy:

• Define the technical roadmap for migrating from a desktop C# application to a full-stack, cloud-native web platform.

• Choose and implement core technologies, including Python (Django/Flask), React for the frontend, and Azure-based microservices, storage, and CI/CD pipelines.

• Integrate AI/ML capabilities and Retrieval Augmented Generation techniques into the platform to enhance data-driven decision-making and user interactions.

• Develop and enforce best practices around security, scalability, performance, and maintainability.

• Hands-On Development:

• Write clean, maintainable, and testable code in Python (for backend APIs and services) and contribute to frontend implementations in React.

• Integrate third-party APIs, libraries, and AI frameworks (e.g., TensorFlow, PyTorch, Hugging Face) to deliver intelligent features.

• Design and implement efficient data models and storage solutions (SQL/NoSQL) to support robust analytics.

• Team Leadership & Management:

• Mentor junior developers and interns, guiding them in coding best practices, architectural patterns, and professional growth.

• Collaborate with external freelance developers, ensuring alignment with standards, timely delivery, and high-quality outputs.

• Foster a collaborative, inclusive, and results-oriented culture, encouraging continuous learning and improvement.

• Quality Assurance & DevOps:

• Implement CI/CD pipelines, automated testing, and deployment strategies using Azure DevOps or GitHub Actions.

• Perform code reviews, ensure adherence to coding standards, and uphold rigorous QA processes to deliver reliable, production-grade code.

• Establish monitoring and observability practices to maintain system health, performance, and security at scale.

Requirements:

• Technical Expertise:

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field.

• 8+ years of professional software development experience, ideally transitioning from a strong background in C# to Python-based web development.

• Proven success in architecting web applications using Python frameworks (Django or Flask) and React, with a track record of delivering scalable, user-centric products.

• Hands-on experience with Azure cloud services (e.g., Azure App Service, Azure Functions, Cosmos DB, Azure Kubernetes Service).

• Solid understanding of DevOps practices, CI/CD pipelines, containerization (Docker), and infrastructure-as-code.

• Strong database experience with both SQL and NoSQL solutions.

• AI/ML Competencies:

• Familiarity with integrating AI/ML models into production environments.

• Understanding of Retrieval Augmented Generation, vector databases, NLP libraries, and large language models.

• Experience working with Python’s AI/ML ecosystem (TensorFlow, PyTorch, Scikit-learn) and data processing libraries (Pandas, NumPy).

• Leadership & Communication:

• Demonstrated ability to lead and mentor a team, driving both technical and personal growth.

• Excellent communication, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.

• Comfortable working with remote teams, contractors, and cross-functional stakeholders.

Nice-to-Have:

• Domain experience in supply chain management, manufacturing, or OEE optimization.

• Experience with big data tools or analytics platforms.

• Open-source contributions or a notable GitHub portfolio.
