Position Summary
We are looking for a seasoned Lead Software Engineer to be a key player in our dynamic Digital and Web team. You will be instrumental in developing our customer-facing eCommerce websites and applications, spearheading pivotal technology initiatives while leveraging advanced digital, cloud, and integration technologies. This role necessitates regular in-office attendance at our Naperville, IL office (generally Tuesday to Thursday), with the option to work remotely on Mondays and Fridays.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the architecture and development of intricate Full Stack applications, ensuring they are scalable, secure, and high-performing.
- Act as a hands-on technical lead, providing mentorship to both internal and external development teams.
- Contribute to the ongoing enhancement of our suite of applications and services.
- Stay informed about emerging technology trends in SaaS, cloud computing, and DevOps, making recommendations for innovative solutions.
- Formulate strategies to improve operational efficiency, decrease costs, and deliver significant business value.
- Troubleshoot and resolve complex software issues, ensuring sustainable technical resolutions.
- Advocate for API-centric development, facilitating integration with mid-office applications and external partners.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams and senior management to ensure project success.
- Adhere to best practices and software development lifecycle (SDLC) principles, ensuring consistent and reliable software delivery.
- Manage the maintenance of eCommerce applications, guaranteeing their stability, security, and user satisfaction.
- Design high-availability applications based on multi-tier cloud architecture.
- Ensure seamless integration with third-party services and APIs.
- Mentor and guide junior engineers, nurturing a culture of continuous learning, collaboration, and innovation.
- Conduct comprehensive testing to ensure application quality and swiftly address any identified issues.
- Implement robust security measures to protect customer data and transactions.
- Create and maintain technical documentation, including system architecture, APIs, and workflows.
- Regularly monitor system performance and optimize application responsiveness.
- Partner with QA teams to ensure high-quality applications while promptly addressing any issues.
Required Skills
- Minimum of 8 years of substantial experience in designing and developing complex Full Stack applications.
- Proven expertise in managing eCommerce applications and websites.
- Strong proficiency with CMS, commerce platforms, and headless architecture concepts.
- Advanced skills in JavaScript/TypeScript, Python (Django, Flask), and messaging systems like RabbitMQ and Kafka.
- Familiarity with microservices architecture and containerization technologies (Docker, Kubernetes).
- Knowledge of cloud technologies, particularly AWS.
- Experience with CI/CD tools, such as GitOps, Jenkins, Maven, and JIRA.
- Experience with relational and NoSQL databases, with a preference for hands-on database development.
- Familiarity with the Vtex eCommerce platform and Nosto (eCommerce personalization) is advantageous.
- A Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a closely related field.
