The Homeowner Legal Services Intake Specialist is a pivotal role aimed at assisting homeowners and mobile homeowners experiencing foreclosure, housing instability, and related legal challenges. This position is ideal for candidates who are dedicated to providing exceptional customer service and who have a genuine passion for aiding those in need.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee the legal intake process for the Homeownership Defense Team, focusing on foreclosure defense, mobile homeowner defense, and affirmative work.
  • Gather essential information from applicants and collaborate with attorneys, paralegals, and other team members to facilitate legal support.
  • Evaluate income eligibility and employ an objective scoring system to identify applicable services while ensuring thorough conflict checks.
  • Recommend appropriate actions to supervising attorneys based on intake assessments, ensuring clients are aligned with suitable legal resources.
  • Organize and compile necessary documentation for intake evaluations, facilitating accurate case assignments.
  • Manage the transition of cases from intake to the case management system, supporting directors and paralegals in the closure of cases.
  • Identify potential legal issues and evaluate case scope to guarantee that applicants receive necessary assistance.
  • Create and provide detailed legal resources and referrals for clients who we are unable to assist directly, tailored to their specific needs.
  • Identify opportunities for enhancement in the intake process and collaborate with leadership to implement improvements.

Required Skills

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in relevant fields such as law, housing, advocacy, organizing, or social work.
  • Experience in housing law, foreclosure defense, or eviction defense is highly advantageous.
  • Strong dedication to social and racial justice, with a commitment to fulfilling the needs of clients and communities.
  • Exceptional communication abilities, both verbal and written, with the capacity to effectively engage clients.
  • Proficient organizational skills, demonstrating the ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently.
  • Familiarity with MS Office, Google Suite, and case management systems (e.g., Clio) is preferred.
  • Willingness to travel within the Denver Metro area and neighboring suburbs as necessary.
  • Fluency in additional languages is a plus and may qualify for an extra stipend.

Qualifications

  • At least 5 years of relevant experience.
  • Experience in housing law or related fields is highly desirable.
  • A strong passion for meeting the needs of clients and advocating for communities.

Compensation And Benefits

  • Competitive salary of $67,500 per year.
  • Additional $2,000 per year for bilingual employees.
