Position – Licensing Manager

Location – Remote

Salary – $80k – $100k + Benefits

Job Description

Licensing Sales and Market Expansion:

Represent the company, promoting and selling existing copyrights

Develop and implement strategies to expand our presence in the offline book market, leveraging existing copyrights

Contract Negotiations:

• Manage domestic and international copyright management, exploring opportunities for exclusive offline sublicensing, audiobooks, and foreign rights
• Negotiate and execute sublicensing agreements, ensuring compliance with contractual obligations
• Coordinate with legal and finance teams to ensure proper documentation and compliance with copyright laws
• Identify and pursue licensing opportunities with offline retailers, bookstores, and other distribution channels
• Negotiate terms with publishers, including author’s advance, royalties, and rights such as film rights or foreign rights, leveraging CMS’s popularity, rapid growth, etc

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field (e.g., publishing, communications, media studies) or equivalent experience
• Familiar with the titles of a large online literature platform, especially the titles of wattpad
• Familiar with big 4 publishers, people above the director level in the traditional publishing industry, based in NY
• Proven experience in licensing, content acquisition, or intellectual property management within the publishing or entertainment industry
• Strong network and relationships within the publishing or author community, with knowledge of web novel platforms
• Excellent negotiation and communication skills, with the ability to influence stakeholders
• Experience managing licensing rights and exploring international sublicensing opportunities
• Familiarity with legal and contract terms related to licensing agreements
• Passion for storytelling and understanding of reader preferences
• Cross-functional Collaboration and Strategy:
• Provide insights and recommendations on market trends, audience preferences, and emerging opportunities
• Attend industry events and maintain awareness of industry developments and competitive landscape
• Collaborate with internal teams to ensure effective marketing and promotion of licensed titles in offline channels

Pay: $85,531.00 – $100,006.00 per year
