Linux Engineer (Remote)

We are looking for a skilled and experienced Linux Engineer with 5-8 years of experience in managing and supporting Linux-based systems in a remote data center environment. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of Linux operating systems, system administration, and scripting. This remote role involves designing, implementing, and maintaining Linux environments to ensure high availability, performance, and security for critical systems in data centers.

Key Responsibilities:

​•​Manage and maintain Linux systems remotely across multiple data center environments.

​•​Monitor system performance, troubleshoot issues, and optimize system configurations for maximum efficiency.

​•​Deploy, configure, and maintain server environments, ensuring systems are secure, stable, and up-to-date.

​•​Perform routine system updates, patch management, and system audits to maintain compliance with security standards.

​•​Automate system tasks using scripting languages such as Bash, Python, or Perl.

​•​Manage user accounts, permissions, and security policies in a Linux environment.

​•​Collaborate with remote network and storage teams to ensure seamless integration between Linux systems and other data center components.

​•​Implement and manage backup and disaster recovery solutions for Linux systems.

​•​Develop and maintain technical documentation related to Linux system design, procedures, and operations.

​•​Stay updated with the latest Linux trends, patches, and technologies to continuously improve system performance and security.

Qualifications & Skills:

​•​Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field.

​•​5-8 years of experience as a Linux Engineer, especially within a data center environment.

​•​Strong hands-on experience with Linux distributions (e.g., RHEL, CentOS, Ubuntu).

​•​Proficiency in Linux system administration, including configuration, monitoring, and performance tuning.

​•​Expertise in scripting languages (Bash, Python, Perl) for automation and task management.

​•​Experience with virtualization technologies (VMware, KVM) and containerization (Docker, Kubernetes) is a plus.

​•​Strong understanding of networking concepts as they relate to Linux systems.

​•​Familiarity with SAN/NAS storage, RAID configurations, and backup solutions.

​•​Linux certifications (e.g., RHCE, LFCE) are highly desirable.

​•​Excellent problem-solving skills with a proactive approach to system administration tasks.

​•​Strong communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively in a remote team environment.

Additional Requirements:

​•​Willingness to participate in an on-call rotation and provide after-hours support when necessary.

​•​Ability to manage time effectively while working remotely in a fast-paced environment.
