Linux Engineer (Remote)

Position: Linux & Backup Engineer 

About the Role: 

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Linux & Backup Engineer to join our dynamic IT team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for managing and maintaining Linux-based systems, virtualization platforms, and backup solutions to ensure the reliability and security of our IT infrastructure. Experience with Red Hat OpenShift, virtualization technologies, and the Rubrik backup solution is essential. Preference will be given to candidates with Oracle Linux VM experience and expertise in Bash shell scripting. 

Key Responsibilities:

– Design, implement, and maintain Linux server environments with a focus on Red Hat, Oracle Linux, and other enterprise distributions. 

– Manage and optimize virtualization platforms, ensuring high availability and performance. 

– Implement and maintain containerized applications using Red Hat OpenShift. 

– Configure, monitor, and troubleshoot backup systems, with a focus on Rubrik solutions. 

– Develop and maintain Bash shell scripts for automation and system management tasks. 

– Ensure robust disaster recovery strategies, including backup & security validation and restoration testing. 

– Provide support for Oracle Linux VM environments, including deployment and troubleshooting. 

– Monitor system performance, identify potential issues, and implement proactive solutions. 

– Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support infrastructure and application needs. 

– Document processes, configurations, and standard operating procedures. 

Qualifications:

– Education : Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field (or equivalent work experience). 

– Experience: 

 – 5+ years of experience in Linux system administration. 

 – Proficiency in Red Hat OpenShift and containerized environments. 

 – Hands-on experience with virtualization technologies (e.g., VMware, KVM, or Oracle VM). 

 – Expertise in Rubrik backup solutions, including configuration and troubleshooting. 

 – Familiarity with Oracle Linux Virtualization Manager (OLVM) is a plus. 

 – Strong scripting skills, particularly in Bash; additional scripting languages (e.g., Python) are a plus. 

Technical Skills: 

– In-depth knowledge of Linux operating systems (RHEL, Oracle Linux). 

– Experience with containerization and orchestration tools, especially Kubernetes/OpenShift. 

– Strong understanding of networking, storage, and security concepts in Linux environments. 

– Proficiency in automation tools and scripting for system administration tasks. 

– Familiarity with backup and disaster recovery best practices. 

Soft Skills:

– Strong communication and interpersonal abilities. 

– Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team. 

– Proven organizational skills and attention to detail.
