Manager Payment Operations | Great Southern Bank | Australia

As our highly valued Manager, Payment Operations based in Brisbane, your role will be leading a team in delivering on all aspects of customer transaction disputes, manual payment requests, regulatory compliance and exception processing spanning all Great Southern Bank Payments.

As a key leader within the Chief Operating Office (COO) landscape, you will be people focused with an ability to motivate, nurture and bring together a team to deliver excellence while offering the necessary strategic input and initiative to see teams succeed today and into the future.

You create a culture of exceptional service, teamwork, commitment to excellence with a professional work ethic that drives the success of team and organisational objectives. You do this by advocating and championing a genuine, impact and growth focused, customer obsessed culture within your team. You are accountable for the day-to-day operation of your business (and team), including but not limited to effective servicing of customer and stakeholders needs, considered change management with a customer first mindset.

You are responsible for all aspects of people management of your team including the recruitment, day to day performance and behaviours, communication, mentoring and ongoing development of your direct reports and it is through this activity you will see growth and development in your business.  Your key measures of success are service level adherence, quality output and customer experience, underpinned by strong team engagement, risk and financial management.

You’ll make an impact by:  

  • Ensure the critical function of the bank continues to operate effectively in protecting customers from scam losses through appropriate due diligence activities performed by your team

  • Support front-office teams with prompt and effective feedback regarding payment requests and activities, working collaboratively to refine processes and remove friction.

  • Provide necessary challenge, improvement, and evolution to business practise to support ongoing execution excellence and quality.

Do things differently with us  

To succeed in this role, you will have: 

  • 5+ years experience within the Financial Services or related industry with exposure to resource planning, modelling and scheduling.

  • In addition, 3-5 years leading teams

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or related field
