Job OverviewWe invite you to become a vital member of our dedicated team, renowned for its commitment to documentary media and its impactful contributions to society. As the Marketing and Communications Manager, you will play a pivotal role in elevating our brand visibility and orchestrating all facets of strategic marketing and communications efforts. Your work will encompass various platforms—including our website, social media channels, email outreach, and both print and digital content—to effectively promote our organization and the creators we support. This remote role requires occasional travel to our headquarters in Durham, North Carolina.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and execute comprehensive marketing and communications plans that ensure a unified brand identity across all programs, events, and outreach initiatives.
- Create and curate compelling content, including newsletters, blog articles, graphics, and social media posts, to engage a wide array of audiences.
- Oversee the management of our website, ensuring it remains user-friendly, current, and reflective of our organizational mission.
- Craft and revise marketing materials, such as press releases, blog entries, and communications for our donors.
- Drive social media engagement across multiple platforms by creating a vibrant content calendar and monitoring performance.
- Analyze and track marketing efforts, adjusting strategies as necessary based on performance metrics.
- Maintain a comprehensive digital media archive, inclusive of photos and videos, for future reference.
- Coordinate email campaigns from content creation to testing and distribution.
- Organize and promote events, coordinating outreach and marketing strategies for effective promotion.
- Collect and analyze data from programs and events to gauge performance and inform future strategies.
- Build and maintain a database of media contacts, organizations, festivals, and other partners aligned with our mission.
- Stay abreast of industry trends and actively engage with partners and supported creators.
- Update project and resource pages for our documentary creators.
- Develop internal communication protocols to enhance process efficiency.
- Assist with special projects and grant research as required.
Required Skills
- Over 5 years of experience in marketing and communications, preferably within the arts, film, or nonprofit sectors.
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong project management abilities, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills; must be self-motivated and entrepreneurial.
- Visual design proficiency, with experience in design software considered an asset.
- Proficient in utilizing various social media platforms including Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, X (formerly Twitter), YouTube, and others.
- Strong networking and relationship management capabilities.
- Tech-savvy, experienced with cloud-based applications, Microsoft Office, Google Workspace, and communication tools like Mailchimp, Zoom, Asana, and Slack.
- A driven and independent individual who thrives in a collaborative team environment.
Qualifications
- A Bachelor’s degree is preferred.
