Position Summary

Reporting to the Marketing Manager, the Marketing and Design Coordinator supports the organization’s website, event and fundraising landing pages and social media channels, the creative development and coordination of advertisements, marketing tools, and other materials.
The Marketing and Design Coordinator helps maintain Hospice Niagara’s corporate brand, both internally and externally, as well as fundraising strategies and events.
The Marketing and Design Coordinator performs all duties in a safe and healthy manner, in accordance with Hospice Niagara’s policies and procedures, the Occupational Health and Safety Act, and all other applicable legislation.


Key
Responsibilities


  • Ensuring goals and objectives are developed and executed in alignment with the vision, mission, values and strategic priorities of Hospice Niagara


  • Designing fresh, compelling and timely marketing campaigns and materials for print, digital and social media platforms that drive results


  • Assists with updating and coordinating existing campaign, event and lottery marketing collateral


  • Assists with updating, scheduling and tracking (CRM) of all Hospice Niagara social media platforms, websites and portal


  • Maintains and updates the advertising and social media calendar and deliverables


  • Assisting with marketing and communications strategies for the organization, including fund development


  • Assisting with all capital campaign marketing and communications, i.e. presentation development/updating, posters, signage, etc.


  • Donation photo ops and social posts – taking photos, writing social posts and scheduling


  • Providing marketing direction and support to third party fundraising events hosts


  • Providing customer service support for donor and ticket buyer inquiries


  • Providing support at fundraising events and activities


  • Maintaining and updating the Hospice Niagara Portal for marketing related activities, developing campaign and event donation/ticketing pages within AKA Raisin and utilizing Donor Perfect to retrieve donor data for email communication


  • Working proactively to protect the interests of the organization and mitigate risk, whenever possible; advising supervisor of issues and working with a solutions-based approach


  • Maintaining the privacy of stakeholder records for communication efforts in accordance with legislation (i.e. CASL, AODA)


  • Raising positive community awareness of hospice palliative care and of the programs and services provided by Hospice Niagara


  • Demonstrating personal initiative and participation in other aspects of working for a non-profit organization, including participating in organizational events and fundraising activities


  • Mentoring, supervising and training volunteers and students in marketing and communications processes


  • Participates on committees, as required


  • Performing general office duties such as filing, photocopying, and answering telephones


  • Other duties, as assigned


Skills
& Attributes

  • Demonstrated exceptional creativity and graphic design skills
  • Proficiency in MS Office software (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), Design Software (Adobe Creative Cloud Suite) and social media (Facebook, X, You Tube, Instagram, Meta Business, Later, CRM Email) and website development and maintenance
  • Familiar with external/internal printer layout and setup requirements
  • Demonstrated exceptional experience writing tailored messaging for various audiences
  • High degree of self-direction and self-motivation
  • Ability to plan and prioritize work and deliver results on time and on budget
  • Experience effectively communicating information in one-on-one and group settings
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills in English (proficiency in French and other languages considered an asset) with an ability to adjust communication style for the audience
  • Proven track record of fostering collaborative partnerships and teamwork, with the ability to easily converse with target audiences in a compelling manner
  • Strong analytical, problem solving, conflict management and critical thinking skills
  • High degree of resourcefulness, flexibility and adaptability
  • Ability to lead projects, while simultaneously managing and supporting day-to-day priorities
  • Strong dedication to the vision, mission and values of Hospice Niagara
  • Willingness and flexibility to work evenings and weekends based on events and organizational needs
  • Occasional travel may be required; Valid Ontario “G” driver’s license and access to personal vehicle with current vehicle insurance policy indicating a minimum of $1 million liability



Academic, Training, Knowledge & Experience

  • Post-secondary training in graphic design
  • Additional training in website content and design and/or photography (considered an asset)
  • At least five years of related work experience in graphic design (preferred)
  • Proficiency with Adobe Creative Cloud
  • Understanding of health care systems and experience working in a non-profit setting (preferred)
  • Vulnerable Sector Police Check (favourable, within past 12 months)
  • Fundamentals of Palliative Care (preferred, must be completed within 12 months of hire)
  • Mask Fit (preferred, must be completed within 12 months of hire)
  • Marketing and Design portfolio (digital or print) required

  • Ongoing observation and feedback
  • Annual performance assessment and discussion; individual development planning
