We are seeking an experienced National Sales Manager who wishes to join the business at this exciting stage, helping drive high-performance business growth across the retail and food service channels, while also focusing on building relationships with major grocery retailers and distributors.
Location
Carême is based in Tanunda, Barossa Valley, the successful candidate will be expected to spend time on the manufacturing site, the duration and frequency of which will depend on their city and state of residency. Frequent inter-state and local travel for customer and trade visits will be required.

Position Summary
The National Sales Manager will be responsible for driving sales growth, identifying new business opportunities, and ensuring exceptional customer service for key accounts and distributors. This role involves managing key relationships with major grocery retailers (Coles, Woolworths, and independent MSOs), as well as working with distributors to optimize market reach and expand Carême’s presence across Australia.
Key Responsibilities
Key Account Management
- Serve as the primary contact for Coles, Woolworths, and other major MSO accounts.
- Develop and execute promotional programs aligned with Carême’s promotional strategy.
- Participate in major supermarket ranging reviews, presenting new product developments (NPD) and negotiating shelf space.
Distributor Management
- Build and maintain strong relationships with distributors who span both independent retailer, food service and food manufacturing, ensuring adherence to sales targets and brand standards.
- Design promotional strategies for distributors, keeping Carême’s products top of mind for their sales teams.
- Conduct regular performance reviews to monitor sales progress against budget.
- Identify and establish new distributor partnerships as necessary to maximize market coverage.
- Develop joint business plans with distributors to achieve business objectives.
Sales Performance & Strategic Planning
- Implement account-specific strategies to meet sales targets and grow market share.
- Analyse performance data to identify trends and areas for improvement in account and distributor performance.
- Prepare annual sales budget.
- Reporting on sales performance and new business initiatives to the Managing Director and Board.
Relationship Management & Brand Representation
- Cultivate long-term relationships with key stakeholders, including buyers, category managers, and distributors.
- Attend distributor and retailer meetings in person or via video conferencing.
- Spend time in the market with key distributors to stay updated on industry developments and enhance partnerships.
Business Development
- Develop a robust business development plan to help achieve Careme’s growth aspirations.
- Identify new retailer and distributor partners for the Careme product range.
- Work across retail, food service and food manufacturing channels to activate new sales opportunities.
New Product Development (NPD) Program
- Identify market opportunities for NPD
- Work with the Managing Director on developing NPD in current and adjacent categories
Experience
Proven experience in a Sales Manager role, with a strong background in managing relationships with Coles, Woolworths, and other MSOs.
Demonstrated success working with distributors to expand market reach.
Strong understanding of the retail and food service landscape, particularly within the premium food sector.
Excellent communication, negotiation, and relationship-building skills.
Ability to analyse sales data, forecast performance, and develop strategic growth plans.
Flexibility to travel frequently for customer and trade visits.
