The Role
- The purpose of this role is to work within the Brennan Managed Network Core engineering team resolving complex issues, planning and executing changes within our customer and Brennan core network environment.
- Reporting to the Network Operations Manager this role will serve as the final point of escalation for all networking tickets issues within Brennan. It is responsible for issue resolutions, identify repeat issues and addressing root cause hence improve the ongoing service to the customer. The core networking team consists of highly skilled like-minded people committed to delivering excellent service.
- This is a highly technical, hands-on role requiring the successful candidate to have absolute confidence in their ability. You will need to communicate clearly and concisely to colleagues and client contacts alike.
Role Responsibilities
- Resolution of highly complex issues with the customer or the Brennan networks
- Serve as a level 3 point of contact and escalation with the customer or the Brennan networks
- Lead technical discussions with the internal teams on resolution
- Research, test and document resolutions to root cause resolutions
- Prepare technical and testing documentation
- Provide technical analysis to the problem management team
- Ensure compliance to Brennan processes, and that these are constantly reviewed and challenged internally as part of a continuous service improvement culture
Key Competencies and Qualifications required:
- To succeed in this role, you will have the following experience and competencies:
- Minimum of 5 years’ experience in an IT or Telecommunications services networking environment
- Very confident in Cisco IOS, Junos, FortiOS
- Expert level understanding of TCP/IP, Routing protocols, Load balancing concepts
- Advanced network administration and troubleshooting skills.
- In depth knowledge and experience in VTP and Spanning tree and other switching technologies
- Hands on experience on Cisco Nexus 7K,5K switches & Cisco routers
- Working knowledge of Python or other automation / scripting languages and an understanding of Ansible
- Working knowledge of Cisco ASA Firewalls
- Working knowledge and experience on BGP & OSPF
- Working knowledge and experience on F5 load balancers
- Ability to work delivery on multiple concurrent projects and tasks with conflicting priorities
- Demonstrated experience with raising support tickets with vendors
