PARTNER is working closely with Engie to identify the Operations and Maintenance Manager who will lead the successful delivery and ongoing operations of Australia’s first large-scale renewable hydrogen plant, the Yuri Project.

The Yuri Project
The Yuri Project, a key step in establishing Australia as a renewable energy exporter, is a collaboration between Engie and Mitsui. As Australia’s first green hydrogen project using a 10 MW electrolyser in the Pilbara, it will pioneer large-scale renewable hydrogen production and set a new standard for sustainability in energy.
The Role
As Operations and Maintenance Manager, you will serve as Engie’s representative under the Yuri Hydrogen Operations and Maintenance Agreement. Acting as the primary point of contact with Yara Pilbara Fertilisers, you will oversee contractor mobilisation, ensure operational readiness, and drive the successful transition from construction to commissioning and operation (expected Q4 2025).
Based in Perth with travel to Karratha, you will manage the interface between Engie and contractors, ensuring compliance with safety, regulatory, and operational standards. Your leadership will be critical in fostering a culture of respect, innovation and efficiency while ensuring the Yuri Project achieves its ambitious goals.
Responsibilities
- Act as Engie’s representative for all dealings under the Yuri O&M Agreement, managing relationships with contractors and stakeholders.
- Oversee contractor mobilisation and readiness activities, ensuring seamless operational transitions.
- Develop and monitor O&M principles, procedures, and training packages to align with Engie’s management systems.
- Ensure compliance with health, safety, and environmental policies, fostering a strong safety culture.
About You
You are an experienced leader with a proven ability to manage operations and maintenance within energy or process industries. Your commitment to safety, sustainability, and innovation will ensure the Yuri Project sets a global standard for renewable hydrogen production.
Experience and Qualifications
- A strong technical foundation, supported by qualifications in Engineering, Electrical, or Science, paired with extensive hands-on experience in operations and maintenance management.
- Demonstrated expertise in managing contractors and overseeing operational readiness for large-scale projects, advancing projects from commissioning to operations.
- In-depth knowledge of hydrogen production, thermal processes, or renewable energy systems, and their application in industrial settings.
- Experience in navigating and delivering results within large, matrixed international organisations.
- Skilled in stakeholder engagement, with the capacity to build relationships and drive collaboration across multidisciplinary teams.
