Key Responsibilities
Manage and maintain MySQL databases, ensuring optimal performance and availability.
Handle MySQL replication and troubleshoot any related issues.
Write and optimize SQL code to enhance database performance.
Automate routine database tasks using shell scripting.
Utilize MySQL Enterprise Manager for database management.
Deploy and manage databases on AWS cloud services, including EC2, RDS, and Aurora.
Implement cloud deployments using Jenkins, Bitbucket, and Terraform.
Perform common database procedures such as upgrades, backups, recoveries, and migrations.
Profile server resource usage and optimize as necessary.
Follow SDLC and change-management principles diligently.
Monitor databases using tools like ServiceNow, Zenoss, CloudWatch, CloudTrail, and AppDynamics.
Be part of an on-call rotation to provide 24x7x365 incident and outage response.
Must-Have Skills
10+ years of MySQL DBA experience.
Proven expertise in MySQL replication, SQL coding, and performance tuning.
Strong shell scripting and automation skills.
Hands-on experience with MySQL Enterprise Manager.
Experience with AWS cloud services (EC2, RDS, Aurora).
Familiarity with cloud deployment tools (Jenkins, Bitbucket, Terraform).
Excellent troubleshooting and performance tuning skills.
In-depth knowledge of MySQL storage engines (InnoDB, MyISAM).
Ability to handle database procedures such as upgrade, backup, recovery, and migration.
Experience in profiling and optimizing server resource usage.
Commitment to SDLC/change-management principles.
Strong communication skills (oral and written).
Experience with ticketing and monitoring tools (ServiceNow, Zenoss, CloudWatch, CloudTrail, AppDynamics).
Analytical and structured problem-solving approach.
Desired Skills
Ability to diagnose and resolve issues across various tiers (application, network, database, server, or storage).
Experience with automation tools to reduce manual tasks.
Familiarity with other database systems like DB2 UDB, Oracle, Postgres, Microsoft SQL Server, MongoDB, and Cassandra.
Experience with configuration management tools (SCCM, Puppet, Ansible).
Background in developing or enhancing training and upskilling programs.
Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience.
Compensation
$90.00 per hour on a W-2 basis.
$100.00 per hour on a Corp-to-Corp basis (independent contractors only).
Additional Information
Candidates must possess a Green Card or U.S. citizenship.
No Visa sponsorship or H1-B holding companies.
Flexibility in work schedules is required.
