Responsibilities

Conduct power system studies which particularly relate to existing and future NERC and regional reliability standards. This position will have specific emphasis placed on IBR modeling and performance tuning using both EMT and positive sequence simulation software.
How You Can Make An Impact
- Perform detailed bulk power system studies using various power system software such as PSCAD, PSS/e, TSAT, ETAP, etc.
- Conduct IBR modeling and performance tuning studies using both PSCAD and PSSE
- Perform various NERC Compliance technical studies: FAC-008; PRC-019; PRC-024; PRC-025; PRC-026; PRC-027; MOD-025; MOD-026; MOD-027; MOD-032
- Perform onsite/remote NERC Compliance testing for conventional and renewable generators
- Process, generate and maintain data as required for other engineering related studies.
- Assume the role of Project Manager, overseeing budgetary matters, project timelines, and maintaining effective communication with clients and Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs)
- Identify training needs and present to the Senior Manager of NERC Compliance
- Performs individual tasks according to good engineering practice and EPE procedures.
- Ability to provide on the job training and mentoring, or help oversee the work of more junior Power Systems Engineers.
- Performs complicated to complex tasks according to good engineering practice and EPE procedures.
- Participates in multifunctional teams to obtain input, address comments and perform studies.
- Assists in developing tools, processes and procedures that enhance engineering study completion.
Qualifications
Bring your passion, here’s what’s needed:
- Proficient with PSCAD and PSSE (or equivalent)
- Bachelor of Science or higher in Electrical Engineering with power system emphasis.
- Minimum 6 years (in excess of degree requirements) * of experience as a power system engineer.
- Proven knowledge of power system and IBR modeling
- Proven team player skills with ability to build and maintain internal and external relationships.
- Strong organizational and communication skills, both written and verbal, particularly with respect to explaining technical matters.
- Have high standards on producing quality reports and products that he/she shall own with pride.
