Andela is Looking for:

ABOUT THE ROLE We are seeking a Java TL / Staff Engineer to own our API and integrations capabilities/teams. This role requires a hands-on team member who actively consults with the team to solve complex problems independently and ensures knowledge sharing. You will prepare low-level designs, guide project teams on technology strategy, and engage in coding to help the team develop solutions and overcome technical impediments. Reporting to the Senior Engineering Manager, you will also partner with the Product Owner and collaborate with designers to create and accept stories.

Key Responsibilities

• Design and Development: Prepare low-level designs in collaboration with Solution/Software Architects. Be hands-on with coding to help the team develop solutions and resolve issues.
• Guidance and Strategy: Guide project teams on technology strategy related to coding practices, continuous integration, and automated deployment.
• Technical Leadership: Identify and remove technical impediments, provide a roadmap for implementing software engineering practices for higher code quality, and constantly look for better ways to solve technical problems.
• Collaboration: Thought partner with the Product Owner in story creation and acceptance criteria, and effectively communicate trade-offs with designers.
• Team Development: Mentor and coach team members, inspiring them to reach their maximum potential.
• Reporting: Report to the Senior Engineering Manager on progress and technical decisions.

Requirements

• Experience: 6-8 years of experience, recognized as an expert in developing backend integration and REST APIs using Spring framework, Java/Kotlin, micro-services, and native-cloud.
• Technical Skills:
• Seasoned software developer with proficiency in Java, Kotlin, Spring-boot, Spring-cloud, Junit, NoSQL DB, In-memory cache, API Gateway, Design-Patterns, Logging, Spring-Security, Maven.
• Deep insight into newer technologies such as Python.
• Hands-on experience with production Cloud Docker, DevOps CI/CD environments.
• Preferred experience in Azure Pipelines, Jenkins, Kubernetes, OpenAPI, Gradle, and Linux shell-scripting.
• Knowledge in other languages such as NodeJS, GoLang, and/or Python is a plus.
• Agile Development: Experience in Agile Development with a preference for specific Solution Architect (or similar) experience.
• Communication and Leadership: Strong communication skills to align the organization on complex technical decisions, with active coaching and mentoring abilities.

OFFER

• 12-month-term contractor position (no medical/paid leave).
• Full-time dedication (40 hours/week).

WORKING DAYS: FROM SUNDAY TO THURSDAY ( DAYS OFF WILL BE FRIDAY AND SATURDAY)
