Job DescriptionW2 engagement: the rate reflects a W2 engagement.As a Principal Designer within the Global Design team, you will work alongside your cross-functional peer group to influence strategic design decisions and ultimately deliver stellar end-to-end experiences across platforms and form factors.
The Principal Designer at PayPal is a design leadership role. You will be expected to drive and leading on the vision and execution of critical products – be they underdeveloped concepts or fresh 0-1 initiatives that will influence roadmaps and open new doors for PayPal.
As a leader you will also be expected to influence and impact the design organization, partnering with other design leaders on raising the bar for design internally and externally.
Your Day to Day
- Design leadership – drive best practices in process and methodology and deliver against business and customer needs
- Guide UX efforts across teams, including strategy, planning, working with cross-functional partners to remove blockers and presenting effectively to senior staff and stakeholders
- Leverage and extend the use of design system, style guides, patterns and assets in the creation of UX deliverables
- Contribute to the wider UX community, mentoring others, leveraging your strengths to help others grow
- Ensure that all the organization’s output/visuals are consistent with the overall brand and strategic commitments.
- Apply a customer-focused, iterative design process.
- Make design decisions based on research and insights, as well as advocate for continuous learning and inclusive design best practices.
- Collaborate with other cross-functional Design team members (Research, Content Design, UX Operations, Branding) and Business and Engineering stakeholders.
What You Need To Bring
- 12+ years of experience in UX role
- Strong leadership skills
- Experience in UX role, bachelor’s and/or master’s degree in the study of user experience, design, research or related fields or equivalent professional experience
- Thorough command of the UX lifecycle with deep, direct experience in all skill areas and tools, including facilitation of workshops or other collaboration techniques to drive momentum and credibility within the organization
- Complete UX skillset, to deliver excellence across products and platforms, mobile apps, financial services expertise an advantage
- Experience leading delivery, through feedback, design critique, presentation to program sponsors, planning and coordinating with partners where needed
- Familiarity and experience with standard design and prototyping tools, such as Figma, Framer, and Miro
- High degree of craft, taste, and product intuition, with a keen eye towards future trends, emerging technology, and shifting customer expectations
- Experience managing multiple projects and working through ambiguity.
- Ability to work cross-team and synthesize feedback from multiple teams/owners.
