The opportunity:

As the Procurement Team Leader you will guide and support a team of sourcing specialists, concentrating their expertise and capabilities to deliver agile, commercially robust, pre-award contract services to the business. Your team will also contribute to a number of key plant and equipment sourcing activities, as well as take on a key role in supporting the delivery of strategic initiatives for our procurement uplift.
 

As you focus on delivering fit-for-purpose, value for money, risk appropriate procurement contract services that support the delivery of business-wide strategic initiatives, you will collaborate and engage with a number of key customers within the business.
 

You will;

  • Strategize resource allocation to meet business demands, overseeing Senior and Sourcing Specialists’ deployment for major projects, and facilitating backfilling when necessary
  • Provide expert advice to the Sourcing team on contract modelling, contracting strategies, and Terms & Conditions application, leveraging support from the Legal team when needed
  • Develop resource strategies to meet the demands of the business
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with internal stakeholders ensuring collaboration across shared portfolios
  • Participate in high-stakes supplier negotiations and handling complex contractual matters, employing coaching techniques to enhance the team’s skill set on the job
  • Support the execution of approved Category Plans and Supplier Relationship Management activities
  • Identify opportunities for continuous improvement in the processes / procedures used by the Sourcing Team, working with the Business Services Specialist to trial and implement changes

What you’ll bring:

  • Degree within Supply, Business or Law or a lesser qualification with significant experience
  • Minimum 3 years’ experience within procurement leadership 
  • Proficiency in conducting comprehensive quality reviews of contract documentation, emphasizing commercial and legal aspects
  • Track record in developing, implementing, and overseeing strategic plans for procurement specialist teams
  • Proven ability to design tailored contracting models aligned with business goals and risk profiles
  • Leadership in identifying and implementing innovative technologies, processes, and tools while providing necessary training and mentorship.
  • Demonstrated expertise in problem-solving and analytical skills to address diverse and complex situations effectively.
  • Extensive knowledge of Australian Standards Terms & Conditions of Contract or similar, adept at interpreting and applying clauses to match specific risk profiles
  • Demonstrated understanding and application of Queensland Government procurement policies within a GOC context
