Product Designer (Remote)

Responsibilities:

• Collaborate with the team to understand design objectives, product requirements, and customer preferences in the cannabis industry.
• Research how cannabis consumers use smoking accessories, focusing on ergonomics, aesthetics, and functionality.
• Conduct market research through surveys, desktop research, emails, or attending product launches to understand trends and competitors.
• Develop design concepts for smoking accessories such as bongs, pipes, and grinders, considering usability and market trends.
• Present product concepts through decks or presentations, clearly explaining the thought process and design rationale.
• Source and examine materials to ensure durability, safety, and cost-effectiveness in production.
• Collaborate with manufacturing teams to ensure designs meet production capabilities and maintain quality.
• Document the design process, keeping notes, saving samples, and organizing work effectively.
• Map out project timelines, communicate deadlines, and ensure projects are delivered on time.
• Ensure designs comply with safety and legal standards for cannabis products.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including product development and managers, to align on project goals.

• Strong creative problem-solving skills, capable of developing innovative product designs that blend form and function.
• Knowledge of design principles, including form, color, texture, and materials.

• Ability to conduct thorough market research to identify trends and competitive opportunities.
• Excellent communication skills with the ability to follow proper etiquette in emails and calls.
• Strong organizational skills, with the ability to outline and document project details, and take meticulous notes.
• Ability to work well in a team environment, collaborate effectively on projects, ask questions, and propose solutions.
• Experience managing timelines and meeting deadlines, with the ability to communicate progress and setbacks to stakeholders.
• Attention to detail and precision in the creation of design specifications and prototypes.
• Ability to present ideas and designs in a clear and compelling way through presentations and decks.

Qualifications:

• Strong understanding of the cannabis industry, especially in smoking accessories and consumer usage patterns.
• Ability to work creatively within budgetary and manufacturing constraints.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills for collaborating with cross-functional teams.
• Knowledge of materials commonly used in smoking accessories, such as glass, silicone, and metal.
• Experience presenting product concepts through sketches, mock-ups, or formal presentations.
• Ability to document the product development process, including saving sample photos and organizing work for easy reference.

• 3+ years of experience in product design, ideally with a focus on cannabis or smoking accessories.
• Experience working in the cannabis industry, particularly in designing or using smoking accessories.
• Strong project management skills with the ability to handle multiple design projects simultaneously.
• Good verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to present designs to various stakeholders.
• Willingness to travel as needed for research or collaboration with manufacturers.

  Bachelor’s degree or diploma in Industrial Design, Product Design, or a related field is required.
