Purpose
The NPD Manager position has full responsibility for the development of New Products as defined by the business strategy. This is an end-to-end functional responsibility which includes the engagement with suppliers, product developers, packaging specialists and design agencies. The effective execution of all the New Product pipeline is a critical part of the success of the Business
Key Responsibilities
As an experienced product developer with experience in working with private label teams or FMCG businesses you will be a passionate, dynamic and committed to creating new and innovative products to meet the company strategy. You will work closely with the Sales Director to assist with the execution of the merchandise/sales strategy and growth plans.
Reporting directly to the Sales and Opps Director, you will:
● Analyse data or insights to determine industry and consumer trends
● Devise long-term development strategies for the categories nominated.
● Foster trusted relationships with suppliers to achieve a compelling and competitive goto market plan.
● Develop product plans and manage the development lifecycle phase from concept to execution.
● Manage the product development planning cycle to ensure all deadlines are met.
● With the Sales team build compelling customer offers and unique product options – this is achieved by building superior relationships with suppliers and customers
● Work with the internal design team to ensure excellent execution of all marketing/design and packaging outputs
● Execute the product launch by engaging with suppliers, the sales team, and the supply chain team
(includes internal and external Quality Assurance) to ensure timelines are met
Specific accountability
1. Strong engagement with the Sales team to define the product business plans and ensure they are consistent with Customer needs.
2. Working hand in hand with the Sales Director to build out Annual Plans for all agreed product launches
3. Ongoing and regular engagement with product suppliers and manufacturers to develop new product plans.
4. Management of and the implementation of all agreed NPD
5. Establishment of commercial plans to ensure sales and margin expectations are met
6. Working closely with packaging specialist and internal design team to build the products into brands that align with the strategic plans
7.Manage the quality control of products in circulation
8.Travel to visit factories to manage key launches
About you
You will have had previous as a new product development manager and some exposure to
Category Management. Knowledge of FMCG categories, hospitality and travel industries is essential.
