About your role
With a strong track record of growth, we are looking for a strategic and astute Portfolio Manager to join our team to play a key role in the execution of our growth strategy and to be a potential successor in a critical part of our business.
This role will have responsibility for one of IXOM’s largest product portfolios. We are looking for someone who is excited to be part of a team delivering critical supply chains for Australian industries. Our commercial roles have the perfect blend of strategy and the commercial management of complex supply chains involving locally manufactured and internationally traded products.

With offices based in Melbourne and Sydney, we are flexible to where this role is based, working with a collaborative team in a hybrid environment.
Key Responsibilities
Operating in a fast-paced, cross-functional environment, you will be responsible for the generation of product plans, sourcing of raw materials, product pricing, manufacturing and supply chain strategy of your locally manufactured products and ensuring the end-to-end profitability of your portfolio.
You will deal with a complex supply chain to oversee the journey of our products and ensure continuity of supply. The products you will be responsible for are sold to a wide range of markets meaning this role will be required to work closely with sales teams and customers across IXOM, as well as with our Operations team.
As for other portfolios, you will need to address the increasing competitive threat to your segment share, but you will also lead the development of strategies to secure emerging opportunities.
Who are we looking for?
- Previous experience in key market segments including mining, oil & gas, industrial, resellers etc
- Portfolio management experience, preferably in industrial based markets or chemicals related discipline
- Experience in industrial chemicals and technologies and their in-field application is preferred
- Financial literacy, coupled with Product Management and Marketing experience is preferred
- An ability to engage collaboratively with a wide range of internal and external stakeholders and influence key decision makers to deliver significant results
- Outstanding commercial acumen gained in a commercial role, ideally involving complex industrial supply chains
- Demonstrated experience in the formulation and execution of sizable commercial contract strategies, for example, high-value product supply tender bids, negotiation and contract performance management
- Superior negotiation skills
- Someone who thrives on challenge, loves the thrill of the ‘win’ and who is driven to achieve exceptional commercial outcomes
- Experience within chemical supply chain trading will be highly regarded
- In addition to commercial skills a Tertiary qualification in Engineering, Science, Supply Chain or related discipline will be highly desirable
- Additional qualifications of an MBA would be highly regarded
