What you will do
Johnson Controls has an exciting Product Management opportunity within the Global Products organization. We’re looking for a Product Manager to join the Global Product Management team within JCI’s Intrusion Product Business Unit (PBU) responsible for our wireless devices portfolio. This position reports to the Director, Product Management.
As a Product Manager, you will be highly focused on driving long-term customer satisfaction, competitive advantage, market share growth and increased profitability across our full product portfolio. You will lead the product life cycle from ideation to end-of-life, and be accountable for virtually all aspects of the business without having direct authority over the resources required to “make it happen”.

How you will do it
- Product Roadmap Development: Craft a detailed product roadmap, outlining feature rollouts to market entry timelines. Prioritize features based on technical/engineering feasibility, customer needs, and strategic value. Incorporate customer feedback and market data into ongoing product refinement.
- Requirements Definition: Define clear product requirements that align engineering & product development with customer needs. Ensure specifications balance customer needs, market trends, company strategy & positioning, and engineering constraints.
- New Product Introductions: Comply with the RCLP process to bring new products to market. Develop business cases and stage/gate review documentation for new products. Work with Sales, Marketing, Operations, and Support team(s) on timely and successful new product introductions. Communicate project expectations to SLT on goals, scope, budget, resources, risks, and timeline, as well as project updates with internal and external stakeholders.
- Market Analysis: Conduct in-depth market research to understand differing customer needs across various markets. Use insights to tailor product features and to specific market segments. Create and maintain SWOT analysis by regularly performing benchmark and competitive analysis.
- Security & Compliance: Work closely with security and compliance teams to understand what requirements are needed in products to obtain or maintain regulatory requirements.
- Operations Support: Create and drive Phase In and Phase Out (PIPO) plans for your product lines. Participate in monthly S&OP calls to ensure alignment of product forecasts and demand planning processes, releases, and exits. Ensure ERP system data reflects correct life cycle data.
- Pricing Strategy Development: With the pricing team, develop a comprehensive pricing strategy that considers market competitiveness, production costs, and customer value perception.
- (Internal) Stakeholder Collaboration: Engage regularly with engineering, business development, sales, technical account management, operations, and marketing teams to ensure alignment on product vision, timeline, and market strategy. Be the focal point for product-related decisions and communications.
- (External) Stakeholder Collaboration: Engage regularly with strategic partners, customers, and vendors.
- Tradeshows: Represent the company and our products at conferences, tradeshows, and sales events.
- Performance Metrics: Monitor and drive actions on key performance indicators for product success, including: market adoption, customer satisfaction, revenue targets, costing performance, and quality.
What we look for
Required
- Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Business, or a related field of study.
- Experience with product and portfolio management for complex products across hardware and software.
- Minimum of 3+ years in product management, with NPI experience.
- Strong written and verbal communication and able to work cross-functionally.
- Ability to present to internal and external stakeholders.
- Strong analytical and data driven decision making.
- Entrepreneurial mindset to innovate and take calculated risks.
- Self-starter, you can anticipate and mitigate program risks and proactively solve problems, which may require conceptual thinking and independent judgment in methods and techniques for obtaining results.
- Travel required to support partner integrations, customer integrations or launch. Domestic and international travel may be required up to 15%, subject to corporate policies.

- A master’s degree or MBA
