Job Description Product ManagerThe Product Manager is responsible for the development and maintenance of a multi-state product line for a property and casualty insurance company writing personal, commercial, and farm lines.
Essential Duties
- Develops and maintains knowledge of all product lines including current and historical physical repository of all product lines rules and forms
- Analyzes demographics, competitor forms and actions, and regulatory statutes to create proposals for product development in new and existing lines based on company objectives
- Prepares and makes state filings or support for form and rate filings regarding product forms, including communication of expectations and progress to internal stakeholders
- Maximizes product marketability by assessing product features, customer friendliness, and agent quoting behavior
- Strategizes and coordinates with internal business partners in areas such as Underwriting, Actuarial, Claims, Marketing, and IT to implement comprehensive products and programs that further company objectives efficiently
- Monitors programs post-launch against key metrics (e.g. financial, regulatory, customer service) and make recommendations for future enhancement
- Queries company databases to conduct ad-hoc analyses surrounding possible market segments and product development and uptake.
Basic Qualifications
- Knowledge of Risk Segmentation, Insurance Pricing, Business Planning and Strategy, Business Project and Program Management, and Market Research;
- Knowledge and understanding of state and federal regulatory compliance requirements;
- General insurance industry knowledge (preferably P&C);
- Strong Critical Thinking and Analysis;
- Ability to author/co-author and implement underwriting guidelines, processes, and procedures;
- Understanding of catastrophe risk analysis tools;
- Strong, effective oral and written communication;
- Strong negotiation and conflict resolution skills;
- Project management organization, prioritization and time management skills;
- Strong ethics and team-oriented attitude;
- Technology proficient (Excel, Word, with an ability to learn new software).
- Experience and Education:
- Minimum 5 years of experience preferred with a bachelor’s degree in relevant field
- Proven track record of successful launched products;
- Experience in insurance underwriting, product management, and technology.
