Rachel Cahill Consulting, LLC is a small, woman-owned consulting firm based in Northeast Ohio serving anti-hunger and anti-poverty organizations around the country. We provide policy and advocacy training, strategy development, subject matter expertise, and project implementation support to help strengthen access to public benefits. We specialize in the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP, formerly called food stamps). We also support comprehensive anti-hunger projects and research studies that demonstrate the long-term benefits to society of meeting everyone’s basic needs.
Position Overview
We are seeking an adaptable and action-oriented problem-solver with SNAP subject matter knowledge to join our team as a Project Coordinator or Manager (based on experience level). The Project Coordinator / Manager will directly support the implementation of client projects and the execution of deliverables, while working alongside the veteran anti-hunger advocates that lead our team.
Through this work, the Project Coordinator / Manager will have an opportunity to meaningfully contribute to policy and advocacy efforts that reduce hunger by improving access to SNAP, Medicaid, Summer EBT, and other public assistance programs.
Job responsibilities include:
- Organize and support the execution of high-impact projects, including meeting management, creation of deliverables, and proactive client communication.
- Assist with the development of high-quality written material, including presentation decks, policy papers, fact sheets, talking points, and collateral material on a range of SNAP-related policy and advocacy topics.
- Support training, technical assistance, and coaching conversations with state-level advocates and application assisters operating in a wide range of political environments.
- Ensure that project details and associated tasks are effectively tracked and updated in our project management system (ClickUp). Proactively identify next steps and potential project challenges. Independently explore and present creative solutions.
- Establish and maintain productive client relationships, providing updates throughout the project and following up on outstanding items to ensure deliverables are completed on time.
The right person for this job has:
- 3+ years of work experience in local, state, or federal policy advocacy and/or public benefits application assistance.
- Significant SNAP policy knowledge (e.g. from serving as a SNAP application assister, caseworker, or policy professional)
- Superior public speaking, presentation, and meeting facilitation skills
- Excellent project management skills, including the ability to organize information and materials, build and maintain efficient processes, and bring a wide range of tasks to completion in order to consistently meet hard deadlines
- The ability to brainstorm possible solutions to client problems, navigate through uncertainty, and take action amidst ambiguity
- A passion for social justice, a commitment to racial equity, and a successful track record of overcoming barriers to get things done
- Critical thinking skills and a willingness to listen, ask questions, bring fresh ideas, and learn from others with different life experiences
- Familiarity with Google Workspace (Gmail, Google Drive/Sheets/Forms), Zoom, virtual scheduling tools (Calendly), and project management tools (ClickUp)
- Reliable, high-speed internet access that can support video chat (Zoom, Microsoft Teams, WebEx) and the ability to work remotely
Full-time employees are eligible for paid time off (PTO) and a comprehensive package of benefits, including health, short-term disability, and life insurance, and a 401(k) match for retirement savings.
This is a fully-remote position, with occasional travel requirements (4-6 times per year). We have a strong preference for candidates located within the state of Ohio, but will consider other applicants in the United States. RCC allows for schedule flexibility, but full-time employees are expected to generally be available for work during regular business hours (9am-5pm) in the Eastern Time Zone. Individuals with lived experiences of hunger and poverty, as well as members of traditionally underrepresented communities (including people of color and individuals with disabilities) are strongly encouraged to apply.
