About the role
We are looking for a Quality Assurance Automation Engineer to join our BGL Product team. The ideal candidate will be passionate about learning, knowledge sharing and collaboration.
As part of the Product team, you will design, build, validate and deploy effective automated test code for our Connected Services team, which manages data imports from Banks, Brokers and Financial Planning Platforms. This role aims to automate the testing efforts, while maximising test coverage across the Connected Services projects.

What you’ll be doing
- Work with Product Managers, BAs, Manual QAs and Developers to design and code automated tests that complement manual testing efforts.
- Design and create automated tests that address areas such as SMSF Compliance, database impacts, software scenarios, security, performance testing, regression testing, negative testing, error or bug retests, or usability in preparation for implementation.
- Maximise test coverage for the most critical features of the system.
- Participate in sprint planning and work with the product team to identify risks and impacts in the system to be tested.
- Educate and help train functional testers and developers to deliver high-quality, performance-orientated cloud software.
- Undertake verification activities to ensure the cloud software satisfies the applicable user needs, quality and regulatory requirements.
- Establish and deliver a performance testing capability to all cloud team.
What we’re looking for
- 2+ Years of experience in automation testing of large-scale web applications
- Tertiary qualification in IT, Computer Science, Finance or related discipline
- In-depth knowledge of testing procedures, methodology and best practices
- Ability to communicate clearly
- Passion for driving quality through testing and automation
- Analytical approach, attention to detail, and ability to work with a high degree of role autonomy and “can do” attitude
- Experience with automation tools like Cypress, Mocha and Jmeter
- Able to maintain and expand on existing automated tests that utilise JMeter and Cypress.
- Experience with API testing using tools like Postman, JMeter etc
- Solid skills in testing REST API using Postman and writing automation scripts for REST API tests
- Experience in security, performance and load testing
- Experienced and have strong proficiency with programming languages such as Javascript, Java, or Groovy
- Able to utilise planning and documentation tools such as JIRA and Confluence
- Good understanding of CI/CD. Be able to integrate test automation in CI/CD pipelines e.g. Jenkins
- Familiarity with GitHub to manage test scripts
- Ability to research development improvements and keep up to date with best software testing practices
- Be familiar with AWS, particularly in S3 and SSM parameters.
