What you’ll do
We are looking to add a Research Grants and Proposals Writer/Manager to our team. Under the direction of the Director, Institute for Quality, you will identify grant funding opportunities, develop queries, Letters of Intent, proposals and grant applications with minimal direction. You will also manage grants including multiple grants simultaneously taking a primary role in coordinating and monitoring correspondence, task completion and milestones, grant budgets and periodic reporting to funders.
Specifically, you will:
- Research, identify and apply for research grant funding from a range of private foundation and public funding sources including, CDC, NIH, etc.
- Draft letters of intent, proposals and research protocols with moderate support from the Director, Deputy Director and research team
- Correspond with current and prospective funders to obtain information or clarification to share with the CVN research team
- Manage and coordinate grants including multiple grants upon receipt including day to day project management and coordination, correspondence, tracking budgeting and formal reporting to agency funders and other stakeholders as required
- Maintain professional correspondence and produce documents suitable for submission to external funders with minimal supervision and oversight
- Participate in periodic research team meetings by presenting on current and past projects
- Participate in all aspects of research governance, oversight and execution, including proposal writing and editing, collateral documentation management, proposal submission and tracking, coordination and reporting on grants received
- Keep the Director and Deputy director informed of current opportunities and challenges and work collaboratively within the department and across departments in the CVN Central Office
- Perform miscellaneous job-related duties or other projects as assigned.
What’s required
- Bachelor’s degree/Masters in Psychology, Social Sciences, Social Work or related preferred
- 3-5 years’ experience with grant and proposal writing and management preferably in a research institute or academic setting
- Comfortable with and adept at using technology including, Excel, Word and PowerPoint and familiarity with online grant application portals and applications. Smartsheet experience preferred.
- Proven ability to write effectively and professionally for academic and scientific reviewers and review panels
- Basic knowledge of research design, nomenclature, methodologies, sampling strategies and requirements
- Experience with human subjects protections/IRB protocols and processes
- Excellent organizational, communication and coordination skills
- Strong technical skills including Excel, MS Word, and PowerPoint
- Commitment to the highest ethical standards
- Desire to be a part of a small, dynamic, and innovative team
- Military/veteran affiliation, experience or cultural competence
- Some travel required (at least 6 times per year)
