Ruby Senior Software Engineer (Remote)

We’re looking for a Senior Software Engineer to take the lead in building scalable, high-performing services for a cutting-edge payroll, benefits, and HR platform.

Location: Remote in Colombia, Mexico, Guatemala, Argentina, and Peru.

Schedule: Monday to Friday, 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM

You will design and implement key features, collaborate across teams, and contribute to the evolution of our technology stack as we transition from a monolithic architecture to modern microservices.

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain gRPC and RESTful services, deploying them in Kubernetes on AWS.
• Design and implement APIs to support new and enhanced product features in collaboration with cross-functional teams.
• Lead migration strategies to transition functionality from monoliths to modern microservices.
• Contribute to shared libraries that provide core functionality for all services.
• Mentor junior engineers and foster a culture of professional growth.
• Participate in code reviews, design documentation, and provide support for production services on rotation.
• Partner with Site Reliability and other teams to integrate new platform features and testing technologies.

Requirements

• 5+ years of experience writing production software in C#, Ruby, or equivalent server-side languages.
• Advanced English B2+ is mandatory.
• Proven expertise in designing and developing APIs and working with relational databases (RDBMS).
• Hands-on experience with Angular, React, or similar frameworks for web applications.
• Proficiency in writing maintainable unit tests and following security best practices.
• Proven track record of working cross-functionally with Engineering, Product, Design, and business stakeholders.

Nice-to-Have

• Experience with Docker and Kubernetes in production environments.
• Familiarity with Protobuf / gRPC.
• Experience working with Kafka or equivalent messaging bus.
• Knowledge of AWS services (S3, EC2, SQS, etc.).
• Prior experience with distributed systems and Payroll/HR software.
