We are seeking a dynamic, enthusiastic and experienced capital equipment outside Sales Engineer to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in capital equipment sales, preferably with experience in the sheet metal machinery industry. This role requires a highly organized individual who is independent and possesses a “hunter” mindset. The position will require extensive travel to meet with clients and prospects. It combines technical expertise, sales acumen, and a passion for exceeding customer expectations.

Key Responsibilities:

The Sales Engineer will play a crucial role in the organized development of the assigned sales territory. The position will focus on acquiring and developing new customers and markets, as well as nurturing repeat sales to existing customers.

Sales & Business Development:

  1. Identify and target new business opportunities within the assigned territory via cold calls, in-bound leads and external marketing initiatives.
  2. Build and maintain strong relationships with existing clients to ensure customer satisfaction and repeat business
  3. Conduct product presentations and product demonstrations to prospective clients
  4. Work with National Sales Manager to negotiate and close sales orders ensuring profitable outcomes for the company
  5. Travel extensively within the assigned territory to meet with clients, attend industry events, and participate in trade shows
  6. International travel to LVD Head Office in Belgium will be required for company events and customer presentations

Technical Expertise:

  1. Understand customer requirements through in-person site visits and after-visit recap meetings with internal Product Managers to define customer-specific solutions
  2. Skilled in identifying customer needs and recommending appropriate equipment solutions
  3. Knowledge and experience with various types of capital equipment, including but not limited to; CNC laser cutting machines, press brakes, punch presses, shearing machines, and automated material handling systems
  4. Collaborate with engineering and technical teams to address customer requirements and resolve issues

Organizational Skills:

  1. Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of sales activities, customer interactions, and pipeline status using Salesforce CRM software
  2. Prepare regular reports on sales performance, market trends, and competitor analysis as directed by supervisor
  3. Remain organized and manage time effectively to balance multiple priorities and meet deadlines
  4. Maintain and provide timely documentation of expense reports and lost business records

Qualifications

  1. Two (2) year degree required; four (4) year degreed preferred in engineering, business ortechnical discipline
  2. Minimum of 5 years experience in capital equipment sales or a related industry
  3. Preferred experience in sheet metal machinery
  4. Proven track record of achieving and exceeding sales targets
  5. Strong technical knowledge of capital equipment with the ability and desire to learn andadapt quickly to new technologies
  6. Excellent customer service, communication, negotiation, and presentation skills
  7. Highly organized with strong attention to detail and follow-up
  8. Ability and willingness to travel extensively (up to 75% of the time)
  9. Knowledge of territory regarding geography, industry and prospective clients within it
  10. Proficiency in Salesforce CRM software and Microsoft Office Suite
