Scrum Master (Remote)

The Scrum Master role is an Agile leadership role. They are servant leaders and coaches for an Agile Team. Scrum Masters help educate the team in Scrum, Extreme Programming (XP), Kanban, and SAFe, ensuring that the agreed Agile process is being followed. They also help remove impediments and foster an environment for high-performing team dynamics, continuous flow, and relentless improvement.

The Scrum Master role is taken by a team member whose primary responsibility is keeping the team on track and assisting the self-organizing, self-managing team to achieve its goals. Scrum Masters do this by teaching and coaching team practices, implementing and supporting principles and practices, identifying and eliminating impediments, and facilitating flow.

The Scrum Master is trained as a team facilitator and is continuously engaged in challenging the old norms of development to improve performance in the areas of quality, predictability, flow, and velocity. They help the team focus on creating increments of value each iteration and achieving daily and Iteration Goals.

Responsibilities:

• Work with Product Owners and be a key player in managing the work of multiple scrum teams by maintaining the backlogs, facilitating Agile ceremonies, and coaching the teams to follow Agile working practices
• Supports, reinforces, and enforces team rules
• Calculate, understand, and justify team’s metrics, velocity, and capacity plan.
• Publishes team metrics and maintains team scorecard
• Facilitates team events, including (where applicable) the Daily Stand-up, Iteration Planning, Iteration Review, and Iteration Retrospective ensures they are productive and kept within the timebox. Encourages collaboration across all team meetings.
• Assist the Product Owner in their efforts to manage the backlog and guide the team while facilitating a healthy team dynamic with respect to priorities and scope.
• Supports the team by addressing and eliminating impediments to improve the likelihood of achieving the objectives of the iteration.
• Coordinates with other teams and represents the team in cross-team meetings.
• Facilitates inter-team coordination.

Experience:

• 5 years experience as a Scrum Master with working experience leading Scrum, Kanban and SAFe
• 3+ years experience with Jira & Confluence
• Proven experience as an Agile Coach, facilitating Agile transformations and implementing SAFe practices in large-scale organizations.
• Strong ability to maintain a busy backlog with alignment from a Product Owner, facilitate Agile ceremonies, and coach teams to define and follow Agile working practices
• Experience with calculating, managing, publishing and justifying team’s metrics, velocity, and capacity plan.
• Scrum Master certification or equivalent professional certification preferred
• Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication and collaboration skills

Special Requirements/Certifications:

• Certified Scrum Master (Scrum Alliance) or Professional Scrum Master (Scrum.org).
