Senior Accessibility Specialist (Remote)

We are currently seeking a remote Senior Accessibility Specialist to join our global team at EPAM. This position involves working on the redesign of a set of products that feature numerous widgets and tools. The UX/UI team is tasked with developing new design mockups that must adhere to WCAG 2.1 AA standards. In this role, you will ensure that all design and functional elements meet the highest accessibility standards, providing a seamless user experience for all. Your expertise will guide the creation of inclusive digital environments, making essential services accessible to a broader audience.

Responsibilities

• Conduct Accessibility Assessments on design mockups and wireframes created by the UI/UX team
• Lead and manage the testing team during audits and product analyses to formulate accessibility specifications
• Estimate the resources needed for Accessibility Testing, Audits, and Analytics across various projects
• Identify issues reported by the team and offer actionable solutions for resolution
• Collaborate with the Development Team to ensure ADA compliance in specifications and design mockups
• Provide timely review feedback and recommendations to maintain compliance continuously
• Advise clients on Accessibility implementation, remediation, and related topics
• Handle client requests by analyzing requirements, proposing solutions, estimating approaches, and presenting proposals
• Organize and prioritize review findings for effective issue resolution
• Maintain compliance with Section 508 standards
• Document and confirm that design and functional requirements meet WCAG compliance
• Mentor and support the professional growth of junior Accessibility Specialists

Requirements

• At least 3 years of experience in Accessibility Testing and Consultancy
• Deep knowledge of HTML/CSS, specifically focusing on accessibility and WAI-ARIA
• Proficient in understanding and applying WCAG (2.0, 2.1+) best practices and techniques, with the capability to provide impactful recommendations
• Familiarity with CI/CD processes and integrating accessibility within product development
• Experience in functional testing of web applications on both desktop (Windows/macOS) and mobile platforms (Android/iOS)
• Proficiency in using developer tools such as Chrome Dev Tools
• Experienced in using assistive technologies including screen readers (NVDA, JAWS, TalkBack, VoiceOver)
• Strong analytical skills coupled with excellent communication and presentation abilities
• Fluent in English, with a minimum B2+ level proficiency

Nice to have

• Certifications such as WAS, CPACC, or Section 508, or completion of recognized accessibility courses
• Knowledge of JavaScript
• Experience working in scrum environments on large-scale projects with multiple distributed teams
