FP Markets Group of Companies is a well-established multi-regulated Australian broker offering traders access to CFDs across Forex, Indices, Commodities, Stocks and Cryptocurrencies. We are growing and looking to recruit a Full-time Senior Backend Developer (PHP) (9am to 6pm Cyprus time, Monday – Friday).

This is a work from home job with possibility for relocation to Cyprus after probation period (6 months).

Responsibilities:

  • Write, review, and optimize high-quality PHP code, adhering to best practices and coding standards. Ensure that all code is well-documented, tested, and maintainable
  • Write different types of autotests, using PHPUnit
  • Design and implement robust backend systems, APIs, and databases. Lead the integration of third-party services and APIs into existing PHP applications
  • Mentor and guide junior and mid-level developers, fostering a culture of continuous learning, code quality, and professional growth within the development team
  • Lead the design and architecture of complex PHP-based applications, ensuring scalability, maintainability, and performance optimization across large-scale projects
  • Identify and resolve performance bottlenecks in PHP applications. Optimize server-side processes, database queries, and application workflows for maximum efficiency
  • Work closely with cross-functional teams, including front-end developers, designers, product managers, and QA engineers, to deliver seamless and high-performing web applications
  • Implement and enforce security best practices across all PHP applications, ensuring data protection, secure authentication, and authorization processes
  • If experienced, contribute to front-end development using JavaScript, enhancing the interactivity and responsiveness of web applications. Collaborate on full-stack development projects when needed

Candidate Profile:

  • Minimum of 8 years of experience in PHP development, with a proven track record of leading and delivering complex, large-scale web applications
  • Deep expertise in PHP, with extensive experience in Laravel framework. Strong understanding of object-oriented programming and design patterns
  • Extensive experience in designing and managing APIs and relational databases (e.g., MySQL, PostgreSQL), including schema design, query optimization, and performance tuning
  • Extensive experience in PHPUnit and other testing frameworks
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a proactive approach to identifying and resolving issues
  • In-depth knowledge of web security best practices, including secure coding, data protection, and vulnerability management
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, capable of effectively collaborating with cross-functional teams and stakeholders
  • High attention to detail, with a commitment to delivering high-quality, reliable, and secure software
  • English knowledge B2 minimum

Nice-to-have Skills:

Proficiency in JavaScript is a plus, with experience in front-end frameworks like React, Vue.js, or Angular being beneficial.
