The Role

As a Senior Backend Software Engineer, you will develop reliable and secure APIs within our client’s platform to support a variety of customer use cases. You will collaborate closely with team members from frontend engineering, machine learning, and product teams. Proactive and efficient communication is essential, as you’ll be sharing ideas clearly in a remote working environment. You thrive on learning and are comfortable working with a broad range of technologies.

Responsibilities:

Within 1 month, you will:

• Maintain, document, and deploy the platform’s Python API servers.
• Enhance the observability of the API to better understand its overall health.
• Implement security best practices to protect data and systems.

Within 6 months, you will:

• Significantly influence how RESTful APIs are built for flagship product features.
• Increase end-to-end testing coverage of APIs using industry best practices.
• Experiment with improvements through instrumentation and prototyping.

What We’re Looking For

• Experience: 4+ years as a software engineer in small to medium-sized organizations; additional experience required for larger organizations.
• Technical Skills: Recent hands-on experience developing backend systems in Python. Familiarity with frameworks like Sanic, Django, Litestar, or FastAPI, and databases such as PostgreSQL.
• API Design: Proven experience in designing and maintaining long-term APIs. Proficiency in automated API testing.
• Communication: Exceptional verbal and written communication skills.
