An exciting opportunity is available for 2 Senior Case Managers to join the Warwick Reporting Centre within Queensland Corrective Services.

Community Corrections is responsible for supervising adult offenders in the community.

Community Corrections is divided into seven regions each with a number of district offices and reporting centres.

Community Corrections staff aim to protect the community and reduce re-offending by supervising offenders in the community in which they live and encourage offenders to adopt more pro-social attitudes and behaviours.

The Senior Case Manager is based in a reporting centre and reports to the District Manager. The position ensures a high level of community safety through the case management of adults subject to orders within the community.

The position acts in accordance with assessed risk and need and maintains high standards of

assessment practices that facilitate effective supervision, and improved reintegration and rehabilitation of individuals subject to community-based orders.

In This Role You Will

  • Support pre-release planning for prisoners or detainees by assessing and identifying reintegration needs, community needs, community supports, in collaboration with Correctional Centres, Community Corrections, Youth Detention Centres, Queensland Police Service and external stakeholders.
  • Engage intensively with prisoners/detainees upon their immediate return to the community to ensure they are provided with adequate support and their reintegration needs are managed.
  • Support the assessment and planning activities for adults, young people and their families considering cultural specific needs and pathways in consultation with government and community stakeholders
  • Coordinate, monitor and facilitate culturally appropriate intervention strategies and plans in accordance with identified needs for the purpose of supporting reintegration, and promoting positive behavioural and attitudinal change in individuals.
  • Demonstrate skills in report writing and case noting to a professional standard expected for the audience of both internal and external stakeholders.
  • Prepare reports, maintain and update records/ information using manual and electronic systems to ensure access to accurate, current and relevant details in regard to individuals.
  • Participate productively and collaboratively as a member of a multi-disciplinary team in delivering programs and services to clients and represent Queensland Corrective Services at external stakeholder forums.
  • Actively participate in and contribute to the good governance and objectives of the directorate and department.
  • Build and maintain productive working relationships with internal and external stakeholders, service providers, community members and networks.
  • Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders and other operational areas to enhance outcomes for adults and youths released from custody or subject to community based/youth justice orders; and execute duties as an officer of the Court
  • Liaise with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities and organisations, and establish where appropriate, culturally specific stakeholder groups to address cultural issues and enhance the case management process for individuals.
  • Ensure professional liaison with and the provision of accurate and timely information to Courts, Boards, Correctional Centres, Community Corrections and other agencies relating to the supervision of individuals.
  • Supervise offenders participating in community service work and undertake other surveillance activities as required within the district office;
  • Model and demonstrate professional presentation and behaviour aligned to the standards of conduct for Queensland Public Service employees.
  • Liaise with offenders’ families, and Queensland Corrective Services staff, Government and non-Government agencies and service providers to ensure offender’s individual and social needs are met.
  • Co-ordinate the delivery of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander specific programs and provide support to Queensland Corrective Services staff regarding Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander matters.
