is seeking a Senior Communication Strategist to support the Volpe Center in Cambridge, MA. The Senior Communication Strategist plays a crucial role in shaping and executing communication strategies for our organization. This position requires a deep understanding of federal processes, technical information, and the ability to navigate complex governmental ecosystems.

Responsibilities:

  • Strategic Thinking: Ability to develop, implement and maintain long-term communication plans aligned with Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) program objectives.

  • Technical Aptitude
    : Proficiency in understanding and explaining technical processes and regulations.

  • Federal Government Knowledge
    : In-depth understanding of federal agency operations, policies, and stakeholders.

  • Relationship Management
    : Experience in building and maintaining relationships with diverse stakeholders.

  • Project Management
    : Ability to adapt to dynamic priorities, manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet deadlines.

  • Content Development:
    Produce and deliver effective internal and external stakeholder communication content using the Adobe Creative Suite and Microsoft Office Suite as well as other current industry software.

Qualifications:


Required Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in communications, public relations, or related field; Master’s degree preferred.
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in strategic communications, preferably within the federal government sector.
  • Demonstrated ability to translate technical information into accessible content for various stakeholders.
  • Strong analytical skills and the capacity to understand complex regulatory frameworks.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
  • Candidate must be a flexible team player and self-starter possessing excellent organizational skills. The ideal individual will have the ability to function in a team environment or autonomously, manage competing priorities, and be able to meet critical project schedules.


Desired Experience:

    • Prior work experience with the Department of Transportation or other federal agencies.
    • Experience in crisis communication and reputation management.

    • Due to the sensitivity of customer-related requirements, U.S. Citizenship is required.
