Position Summary: Fidus Global is looking for a Senior Controls Engineer with experience in control system design, control panel engineering, PLC, HMI, and robot programming, and site start-up support of MHE and Automation equipment for the material handling, manufacturing, and logistics industries. Ideal candidates will have a passion for leading projects and teams.
What you will do:
- Lead and motivate team, ensuring top performance standards are upheld while meeting project deadlines.
- Identify and resolve complex problems.
- Maintain effective communication with the Control Manager and Project Management Team to ensure project is on track, and re-asses and adjust as needed.
- Proactively identify project risks and barriers and implements contingency plans where needed.
- Make recommendations for ideas related to productivity improvement, cost reduction, and improvement in customer satisfaction.
- Lead system commissioning.
Who you are:
- You have excellent analytical and problem-solving skills to be applied in design, programming, and troubleshooting of packaging machinery and line control systems
- You have specific experience with Allen-Bradley (ControlLogix) and PanelView Plus HMI’s, Industrial Communications Networks (EthernetIP, ASI, Profibus, and Profinet), Kinetix Servo Drives and VFDs. Siemens S7 PLC’s is a plus.
- You are a strong communicator with interpersonal skills, and the ability to interact with all levels of management, clients, and vendors.
- You are able to simultaneously organize and successfully execute multiple project responsibilities.
- You are proficient in either Rockwell or Siemens PLCs.
- Contractor management skills are also a plus.
What you will bring:
- BS in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or equivalent technical degree (i.e., AAS).
- A minimum of 8-10 years of experience will be considered in lieu of Degree.
- A minimum of 5-10 years of relevant electrical engineering experience with PLC and robotic automation applications.
- A minimum of 10 years’ experience working specifically in the material handling industry.
- Experience managing multiple, large projects simultaneously (between 5,000-10,000 hours).
- Familiarity with electro-mechanical integration of motors and motor controllers, actuators, and power supplies.
- Familiarity with control panel design.
- Experience with AutoCAD and Microsoft VisualStudio is a plus.

Physical Requirements:
- Prolonged periods walking around client project facilities.
- Prolonged periods sitting at desk working on computer and completing paperwork.
- Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.
Travel Requirements: Must be available for up to 40-60% project travel
Work Location: This position is remote but you must be open to up to 40-60% project travel to be considered.
Shift/Hours: Due to the nature of the business, to be considered for the position, candidates must be willing to work nights and weekends, as needed, as well as travel at times with short notice, for up to 2 weeks at a time.
