Senior designer – 12 month maternity leave position

The successful person for this role will have experience in a similar senior role, and designing for or with Government, councils and private sector alike.

We are a team of visual communicators and digital designers. Our work spans across both digital and graphic design. To be suitable for this role you will have demonstrated experience working across a variety of platforms and projects and will have experience designing for government agencies and private sector clients. You will also have a genuine passion for design, visual communication and working on projects that directly impact our communities.

As an experienced senior designer you will be responsible for creating, managing, and producing design solutions for a variety of uses across web design, graphic design, video and animation, brand and identity, and digital engagement projects. You are passionate and creative and take pride in your work.

Qualification and experience  

Qualifications 

• Tertiary qualifications in design and proven experience / portfolio of work

Experience 

• 5+ years of experience in similar role, in-house or agency skills 
• You will need expert experience in using design software including Adobe Creative Suite and third-party platforms. Specifically, Adobe InDesign, Illustrator and Photoshop. 
• After Effect, Premier Pro skills are highly desirable.
• Expert understanding of design principles and experience in applying these across print and digital design
• Exceptional work ethic and desire to succeed
• Strong communication skills, able to clearly articulate ideas verbally and visually
• Strong project management skills and ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously
• Strong interest and knowledge of design trends and best working practices
• A fast learner who can work on a variety of projects at once, able to adapt to new requests quickly and efficiently
• Understanding and experience in producing Accessible PDF documents with Adobe
• Experience working within brand guidelines, government and council agencies is favourable

Role responsibilities 

• Work collaboratively with Project Managers and Creative Director and clients to deliver engaging and original creative solutions
• Be accountable for the delivery of design services working within approved plans, briefs, budget and quality standards 
• Refer to the Creative Director for design approvals including work requiring significant change, project outcomes or timeframes; are likely to escalate and create contentious precedent; require a high administrative or financial delegation; or submission to Executive. 
• Prioritises and manage multiple tasks and demands including matters with critical turnaround times. 
• Maintain an awareness and familiarity with emerging technologies in order to utilise the tools required to deliver high quality graphic design solutions. 
• Actively engage in professional development activities and ongoing upskilling
• Operate and makes decisions within legislative and regulatory provisions, public sector frameworks, strategic and business plans, Government and Department policies, delegations, budget and resource parameter.
• Devote all of your time, attention and skill to the performance of your duties both during normal business hours and at other times as reasonably necessary;
• Represent Articulous Communications to clients in a professional and honest manner
• Perform your duties faithfully and diligently;
• Use all reasonable efforts to promote the interests of Articulous;
• Comply with all law and the rules and regulations of external agencies applying to your position and duties;
• Leads in creative innovation and design development; and
• Work with colleagues to maintain and improve the professional and efficient delivery of Articulous creative by participating in the development of innovative new products that enhance our reputation of being creative thinkers.
